Ashley Mac’s Kitchen is a Birmingham favorite for a reason—it delivers comforting, Southern-inspired food that feels homemade but polished. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is bright, welcoming, and relaxed, making it an easy choice for lunch with friends, a quick solo meal, or picking up dinner to take home.

The menu is packed with reliable crowd-pleasers. The chicken salad is a standout—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced—while the poppyseed chicken remains a signature dish that keeps people coming back. Salads are crisp and generously portioned, and the sandwich options are hearty without feeling heavy. One of Ashley Mac’s biggest strengths is its grab-and-go market, offering fresh and frozen meals that are ideal for busy nights when you still want something that tastes homemade.

We frequent this restaurant often and usually order off the menu, which we enjoy. This visit, we were in a hurry and ordered a pint of chicken salad for a quick lunch. The chicken salad itself was $13, which is fine but when we asked for crackers to go with it, we were told they were an additional charge.
When asked how many crackers we wanted, I replied “enough for the bowl,” and was informed that 8 crackers would cost $1.00. While $1.00 doesn’t sound unreasonable on its own, it felt disappointing to pay extra for something that’s essentially necessary to eat a $13 container of chicken salad.
It wasn’t about the dollar, it was more about the principle. Including a basic accompaniment like crackers with a chicken salad order would go a long way in customer experience, especially for loyal customers grabbing a quick meal.

You just can’t beat Ashley Mac’s Kitchen at the Valleydale Rd location. The staff are top notch. The kitchen workers know their way around the food. Delicious sandwiches and entrees. Location is super clean and welcoming. Can’t say enough great things. A+++++++. Make it a point to stop in and get some amazing food if you are ever in the Inverness area.

Ashley Mac’s is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re eating at a friend’s kitchen — if your friend happens to be an incredible Southern cook with a knack for comfort food done right.

The standout? Hands down the chicken salad — creamy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Pair it with a side of their broccoli slaw or the lemon vinaigrette house salad, and you’ve got a light yet satisfying meal. And don’t even think about leaving without a slice of their famous strawberry cake — moist, sweet, and nostalgic in the best way.

Portions are generous, service is friendly, and the atmosphere is casual but classy. Whether you’re grabbing lunch with a friend or picking up dinner for the family, Ashley Mac’s delivers consistency and comfort.

At the end of a busy week of appointments and projects, no one wants to cook Friday night dinner. That’s when the Andy Mac Burger hits the spot! Being able to order online and pick up a delicious burger in 10 minutes is really something special.

Nice, airy café with lite Southern comfort and homestyle fare and many products for sale separately a la carte. No line or trouble finding a table at lunchtime on a Saturday. Service was very friendly, and food was ready fairly quickly. Ordered the Andy Mac Burger and Apple Havarti, both with mac & cheese, and a slice of strawberry cake. All were good, and the Apple Havarti was a particular highlight.

Was hosting a sisters day at my house so popped in to the Inverness location to grab food as I did not really have time to prep anything. I bought chicken salad, pimento cheese, pasta salad and sausage balls. I was shocked the only digestible thing were the sausage balls. All the salads were extremely dry and totally lacked any flavor, I would have served the same purpose if I had just thrown 90 dollars in the garbage can and saved the gas. Very very disappointed. Won’t make that mistake again.

A great place to eat, always serving food that tastes like home-cooked goodness. Additionally, it’s a great place to take the kids to eat, as there are plenty of options for picky eaters.
