To be honest, I was speechless! The food was amazing. Everything from the drinks the appetizer you’re entrée all amazing! Our waitress was Kimberly and she was amazing very sweet and she helped us navigate the menu and made our first impression rememberable! We will definitely be back for couples night! We ordered the tomahawk steak, garlic, mashed potatoes, and street corn and black and shrimp. The food came out juicy well seasoned not to just like we like it. The restaurant gave upscale casino vibes, so I would recommend to dress up maybe a blazer but something nice the music was great!

We had the absolute best experience thanks to Jason A. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make our daughter’s celebration feel truly special. He didn’t just serve us, he celebrated with us, adding thoughtful touches that turned a great night into an unforgettable one.
The food was exceptional across the board. Everything came out perfectly prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with care. To top it off, the owner even stopped by our table to personally check on the food and ensure everything was just right, which says a lot about the level of pride and hospitality here.

Visited Five on Black Kitchen & Spirit House with my daughter. This is Mitchell Murphree’s third spot in Murfreesboro, and he did an exceptional job with this place.
First off…the ambiance PLUS the upper and patio outdoor seating make for a wonderful evening if the weather is right. We sat out on the patio, and it was a beautiful night. They have an extensive bar, wine, beer, and specialty drink list along with flights of different spirits should you want to sample bourbons or tequilas. The evening started with Potato Taco’s…this dish is a home run!!! You get three tacos filled with seasoned mashed Yukon Gold potatoes, Crema, Cabbage, Pico, Salsa Verde and Queso Fresco. Now while there is a lot going on, this dish is awesome and makes you yearn for a second helping! The menu is not overwhelming but covers pretty much everything you might want…just not in 50 different varieties. I went with the Pan Con Bistec Cuban Steak Sandwich with fries, and my daughter went with the Black Bean Burger with fries. The steak sandwich is flavorful, tender, and the Cubano style roll with the crusty exterior really put this sandwich over the top. While I’m not a bean burger person I did try a bite, and it was tasty. My daughter enjoyed it and liked it was not spicy and the garlic aioli on the side was a great compliment. My daughter loved the fries, for me not so much as they were too salty for me. Our server Emma was awesome and took great care of us. This spot offers great food and service in a nice location!

We came on a Wednesday night for their “date night” menu. Super good deal! App, salad, 2 entrees, and a desert for $70/couple. Our server Jason A. was phenomenal! He was quick, friendly, personable, and helpful with the best decisions for us! The food and cocktails were also amazing. We can’t wait to come back and try other menu items!

First time going this evening with my bestie. It was both of our first time. She treated me there for my birthday. Our server, Jason A. was incredible and amazing! He was so fun and down to earth. When he found out, it was my birthday, he brought me out ice cream with a beautiful sparkling candle. He made us feel special and the food was amazing. Very friendly people who work there and it was a very clean establishment. We will definitely go back and visit Jason A. again!!!

Hands down THE BEST restaurant experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. We arrived slightly early just in case but were seated for our reservation immediately by the very nice girl at the front door. Our waiter was attentive from the very moment we sat down, got us waters before we even had to ask and even offered a lemon(which I don’t do but it was nice that he asked.) Our waiter Jason A. was the best waiter I’ve ever had! Very friendly and even down to earth and his playlist was straight fire! It was hard to not sing and vibe while waiting for the food which wasn’t long at all but made it to where we could have waited so much longer because the food would be worth any wait. The food was honestly the best food I’ve ever had anywhere and my husband and I will definitely be back for more date nights! This place made our first wedding anniversary finish off strong and we are full and 100% satisfied! 10/10 would recommend. Also yes it’s slightly expensive but I promise if you budget for it you won’t regret it! Everything about this place is fantastic!

I enjoyed 5 on Black overall and would definitely go back. My steak sandwich was very good. My SIL did not enjoy the potato tacos. My son’s $26 encrusted chicken was 100% flavorless and unseasoned. My brothers LOVED their burgers. The fries here are amazinggg! My mom absolutely loved the shrimp and grits. Things were a bit hit or miss but I will try a second time for sure!

Amazing flavor. Caution to my fellow gluten free friends: they coat the fries in flour before frying!!! I would have never known, and normally that’s a “safe” food, so I am so grateful for accidentally discovering that in conversation before eating a fry! There are a few things we can eat, though. The brussel sprouts were amazing. I also ordered a burger without the bun and mashed potatoes. Delicious.

My husband and I went here for Wednesday night date night. It is $70 for a small plate which is an appetizer, a salad and entrée each and one dessert to share. Caesar salads were excellent and the small plate appetizer of West Coast fries with aïoli sauce was excellent. I enjoyed the 5 on black burger although it was very rich and a little too creamy for me to really enjoy fully. My husband liked the blackened shrimp but not the selected garnishment. It’s really too much food for two people to finish. We ended up taking it home, including the dessert that we did not touch. We were told it’s best to make a reservation they fill up quickly. We were able to be seated outside. The service was slow but the staff was very busy. This is a good place to enjoy a special occasion.
