UPDATE – visited several times during our trip and Travis, one of the owners, definitely redeemed himself. I think we just caught him at a stressful moment, he’s actually pretty good dude. And The Big Kahuna Bar is great fun with great drinks, food, and entertainment.
Got off to an odd start with who might have been the owner, he was kind of rude, not welcoming, and honestly a bit of a jerk. That being said the two servers more than made up for it! They provided great service during what seemed to be a pretty busy evening, with just the two of them handling the bar and floor tables. The food was very good, kudos to the kitchen staff, and the drinks were cold and kept coming. Enjoyed a guy and his guitar for entertainment as he played many classic rock-n-roll favorites. Minus the rough start, we enjoyed our dinner, drinks, and the music. Will be in town for ten days and will surely return.

We were greeted at the door by Angel at Big Kahunas, and honestly… he might actually be an angel. We’re visiting from Florida, and the second we walked in he made us feel right at home with the warmest, friendliest smile. The place was packed (because clearly everyone knows this is the spot), but the energy was amazing from the moment we stepped inside.
Even with how busy it was, Angel still noticed I needed a knife for my food and came over immediately — a man of MANY hats! He was so attentive, so kind, and truly added to the whole experience.
And let me tell you… the burgers? WAY better than I expected from a “bar.” Juicy, flavorful, and honestly some of the best we’ve had on the island. Between the great food, the fun atmosphere, and staff like Angel, the vibes here are unbeatable.

This is the beach/surfer bar I always dreamed of but never found until now. Completely open air, friendly staff, super casual atmosphere (no shoes, no shirt, no problem – but don’t expect to hear Kenny) and the most fabulous food and drinks.
We have eaten here 3 times since we have been in Rincon.
Last night, I thoroughly enjoyed one of the grilled plates, chicken. I really expected the breast to be dry, but it was anything but that. Tender, juicy, and deliciously flavored. Rice done to perfection with a side of beans. Also, I got a side Caesar. Whatever you do, make sure you get it. They say the cheese is a Pecorino Parmesan, but it is definitely the best I have ever had.
My husband had the Rock Bottom burger. 8 oz of Angus beef on a bun with jalapeño, garlic mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Oh, and a side of fries. He was in heaven.
Today, for lunch, I had the Pollo Loco sandwich. Again, tender, juicy breast, this time with more spice, pepper jack, ranch, lettuce, and tomato. So good. And the fries, hot, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside.
Finally, dinner tonight: jalapeño poppers followed by wings for him and sliders for me. He got the hot, and he is glad he did not go to volcano. Again, I did the side Ceasar.
I haven’t even spoken about the drinks. Don’t go expecting wine, cosmos, and espresso martinis. Do expect varied rum drinks, along with a couple margaritas, vodka drinks, and Long Island Iced Teas. And, of course, beer.

This was a very cool, relaxed and fun restaurant and bar. Our burgers were juicy and flavorful. The drinks were great and the service was friendly. Everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere a lot. We would definitely recommend!

If you’re in Rincon, you absolutely cannot miss the Big Kahuna Burger Bar. Tucked right near Sandy Beach at the Casa Verde Hotel, this place is the definition of a tropical paradise.
The Food
First off—the burgers are legendary. I had the Big Kahuna Burger (the one with the grilled pineapple and ham), and it was life-changing. The beef was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and that sweet-and-savory combo with the pineapple is just perfection. My friends tried the Fish Tacos and the Mahi Mahi sandwich, and everything was incredibly fresh. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and the hand-cut fries are the best on the island.
The Drinks & Vibe
The atmosphere is unbeatable. It feels like a high-end tropical treehouse with views of the ocean. We grabbed a few of their signature frozen cocktails and some ice-cold Medallas while listening to live music (they even offer Mocktails for the non-drinkers). It’s the kind of place where you can walk in straight from the beach and immediately feel like you’re on vacation.

What really sets this place apart is the staff. Even when they’re slammed (and it gets busy!), the service is fast, friendly, and super attentive. Our server had great recommendations and made sure our drinks stayed full. You really feel that “Boricua” hospitality here.
Bottom line: Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Big Kahuna is a 10/10. Great food, strong drinks, and the best sunset vibes in Puntas. I’ll be back every time I’m in town!

Great food we had buffalo wings, Chicken quesadilla, beef tacos, and chicken strips and fries. Everything was delicious and hot. Side note. We were there for an early dinner around 5pm . The teenage boy loved the tacos and the fries.

We strolled in for lunch on Sun at 12:45…only 2 tables were full. The waitress was so interested in talking to people at the bar/other workers. It took an hour to receive our food, another 10 minutes to get condiments… Which we have to actually walk up to the bar to get. We ordered another drink and it simply never came. We had heard good things about this place, maybe we hit them on a bad day.
