Award Winning Southern BBQ Freshly made from scratch using select, local ingredients. Our process is simple, yet difficult. In keeping with Southern tradition, the only ingredients in our meats are hickory smoke, spice and lots of time. We never sauce meat in the kitchen, and while we have some great regional sauces on the table, we hope you will try the meat on its own, to taste the love and care with which it has been prepared.

As you enter this tasty establishment your hit with a tantalizing fragrance of smoked beef and fine beverages. A warm, friendly staff add to the ambiance. They offer a huge selection of craft beer and whiskey. Also a great selection of mouth watering rib and brisket entrees. The cucumber salad is a outstanding addition to any meal. Doc’s dinning experience will not disappoint. Highly recommend.

Huge beer list, with a ton of local breweries. The bartender gave good tips on what to try.
Excellent food, I had the brisket with potato salad and slaw. My portion of meat could have been bigger. Sauces were fantastic.

Excellent new BBQ restaurant at West Towne mall where Granite City used to be. Already tied with North South for best BBQ in town. For $2 you can add 2 ribs to any meal, definitely recommended. The brisket, pulled pork, and ribs were all excellent. Mac and cheese was creamy and baked beans had great flavor. Looking forward to trying more. They have 5 sauces (all served on the side) ranging from Sweet to Carolina vinegar.

This was our first time here. We went on a whim to try and have a meal and watch the Rams Vs 49ers game. The service was very bad. They were dead slow. 4 tables with people, including ours. We ordered the judging table. This is basically a sample of all the meats available. The turkey was cold and rubbery. The pork was cold. The brisket was burnt and too hard to chew. The ribs were mostly fat and cold. The beans and wings were good. The fries were hot. All in all, I hope your experience is better than ours was, we’ll not visit again.

This is located outside of West Towne Mall. The brisket and ribs were delicious. There were 5 different bbq sauces on the table. I like my bbq w/out sauce and it was really good. I like my brisket more on the fatty side and it a good amount of fat. My sides were mac&cheese and baked beans, the beans were the right amount of sweet & tangy. The meal came with white bread. For dessert we had the carrot cake and it was a little on the dry side. Only bad part of the meal. Great service. My friend had brisket more lean with coleslaw and potatoe salad, she enjoyed everything.

Coming from the south to the midwest has been interesting especially in terms of cuisine and I really hadn’t found a BBQ place that clicked yet.
Docs definitely checks all the boxes: delicious pickles, good sauces, and quality meat. The meat is so delicious and honestly doesn’t even need sauce it’s so tasty. But definitely try the sauces because they’re so good especially the Carolina vinegar. Bonus is their bourbon selection and on tap drinks. Brandy old fashioned was really good as well.
Prices are fair, the staff is so pleasant. My waitress, Vanessa, was attentive and made the experience even better. I will definitely be back!

This place is the best kept secret in Madison regarding food. People in this city are usually too finnicky and don’t want to try new things, which isn’t doing Docs any favors. Here though, the portions are sizeable, prices are reasonable, and the flavors are out of this world. City BBQ (which is much worse) is right on the corner of Mineral Point road, and probably steals all the customers away from this place, which sucks, because Docs has much better food and a nicer atmosphere. There is a good chance this place won’t be here next year, so get it while it’s good.

Absolutely great! The food was amazing! The staff incredibly accommodating and super friendly! Great experience! I highly recommend! Hardest salad I ever had to eat! But I did have a side of brisket! Amazing drink menu!

The food was delicious and the staff was polite and accommodating! The environment was clean, modern, and felt relaxed and the prices were very reasonable. We got the Dino Bone and split it between two people (though I think we each could have eaten one) but the best part about it is the absolute joy it has brought our dog. When you consider how much I would pay to just get her a treat like this the meal seams even more reasonable!
