The food was very good and fresh, we loved the Denisse roll with sweet and salty mango, it was perfect. The staff is very attentive and they gave us the taco tartare to try and we were really surprised very tasty. The attention is very good, the place is super good too and the attention is fast and cordial. Anyway, I recommend it!!

I went to dinner at Yama for the first time with my brother-in-law. We had sushi & sashimi combination B. The portions were very generous and every single piece were amazing. Wait time was short and food came out quickly. All the staff & chef were very attentive, but was never rushed. Even if I cannot always dine-in, I think I will definitely do a take-out here. Parking was also relatively easy on the parking lot connected to the side of the building.

I travel to Japan frequently and Yama Sushi in Denville is my favorite in the area. The quality of the fish is high and they really care and take the time to develop artistic creative maki sushi and rolls which are not just the standard you normally find. The employees are great along with the service.

Lunch buyers beware.: The lunch specials is NOT a full portion of food and you will be hungry shortly after. I assumed an $18 chirashi lunch would have included enough rice and fish to sustain me but I was wrong. It had barely half a cup of rice and the thinnest sashimi slices I’ve ever had. The quality of the fish was very good however.

Cozy sushi restaurant. Everything tasted fresh and the service was attentive and quick. We arrive about half hour before closing and they were accommodating since we ordered quickly. We got the Yama special and the sashimi/Cali roll combo, as well as miso soup. Soup was steaming and perfect for the cold evening, and the fish was fresh. Of the three rolls in my Yama combo the spicy tuna was my favorite as it wasn’t too spicy but still had a great flavor. I’d be ok with less sauce on the eel but the crunch was nice. Also – their green tea is awesome. The sushi chef was also making a few take out orders while we were sitting at the sushi bar that looked good.
