We came here for a dinner with 6+ people and the Fusilli was the only thing that was good. We thought the overall experience was average. We came at 7:30 pm and before taking our orders, we weren’t told which items they were out of. One of the pastitsio orders was cold in the middle.

Freddy’s has a nice chill vibe, delicious food and nicely made, tasty cocktails. Very good wine selection too. The wedge Caesar salad was a standout. Highly recommended!

I had an exceptional experience at Freddy’s Wine Bar on Highland Ave! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere. The decor is stylish, with a perfect balance of elegance and comfort, making it an ideal spot for wine lovers.

The wine selection is incredible, featuring a wide range of both local and international options. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine, and they provided excellent recommendations based on my preferences. I also tried the Standard Charcuterie Board which included 2 Charcuterie with 2 Cheeses’ which was perfectly paired with a delicious red wine.

The service was top-notch – attentive, friendly, and never rushed. They took the time to explain the nuances of the wines and made the entire experience feel special.

Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just looking for a great place to unwind with friends, Freddy’s Wine Bar is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their fantastic wine offerings!

Our second visit to this restaurant was even better than the first! Gabby, our server, went above and beyond with her awesome and courteous service. The atmosphere was lovely, creating the perfect setting for breaking bread and enjoying drinks with friends. Despite its trendy vibe, the restaurant warmly welcomed my young children as well.

Since we were part of a large group, we decided to explore various options from the menu. The charcuterie board was absolutely amazing! The large portion was generous enough for all six of us to savor. We also indulged in several other appetizers, all of which were delightful. However, the truffle roasted taters stood out as the clear favorite among everyone. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the desserts! We couldn’t resist trying the affocato and almond tartes, and they were incredible!

While the main dishes we ordered, the carbonara and tortellini, didn’t impress me as much, I’m already looking forward to returning for more of their delectable small plates and awesome drinks. This place is truly great overall!

I’ve been a couple times recently and the service is always friendly & they have such tasty dishes. Loved the bread & butter with olive tapenade, and the olive oil cake was surprisingly delicious. Good wine AND cocktails – I enjoyed my espresso martini and my boyfriend enjoyed his old fashioned. Now that the weather is cooling down, the porch is a perfect date night atmosphere.

Large patio on a traffic-rich corner but somehow the cars are not intruding the lively conversations of relaxed locals that might have walked to this restaurant. You seat yourself and service will bring water and a menu faster than you can find your readers. Draft selection is small but crafty and local. Their focus is on wine and cocktails with a nice selection from reasonable to decadent. I am not quite sure about the interior design that flip-flops between elevated copper table tops and wine bottles in cardboard boxes permanently stacked around the counter. I asked the waiter for a vegetarian option and he recommended the Brussels Sprouts and when I insisted on starch to go with the appetizer he offered the popular roasted potato. Long story short, the potatoes tasted off and checking the menu they were roasted in duck fat. I immediately received an honest apology and was asked several times if I am OK and if I would like something else. I always declined and enjoyed my Brussels Sprouts and beer. When I asked for the check, I again received an apology for the mishap and learned that my meal was on the house. The apology I received here was the most sincere and the way it was handled was the most concerned reaction I experienced in more than 30 years of being a vegetarian. Mishaps happen but it is the reaction that shows the commitment to customer focus. Well played.

Inside you will find a relaxed and warm atmosphere. -A cozy alcove on one side and a nice open area on the other with a chic bar anchoring the dining room in the center.Covered patio dining available as well. The staff is always knowledgeable about the many varieties of delicious wines. The food is delicious! The roasted brussels, Parisienne style deviled eggs, hummus or warmed pimento cheese dip are great ways to begin your meal. The homemade pastas are always a treat. The stuffed peppers with a tangy chutney make a yummy hearty meal. Great place!!

Freddy’s is truly a hidden gem in Highland Park. Really great cocktails and amazing food options. Our waitress was very attentive and everything came out surprisingly quickly. I especially enjoyed the atmosphere and the cozy decor. Freddy’s is a great place for a first date or anytime you want to have a cocktail, relax and chat.

The food was great and good for the price. The wine list was a little strange for it to be a wine bar. Having 60 wines by the glass seems risky but they were busy enough to keep them in rotation I guess! Service was ok- would be better if they were a little more attentive. The outdoor patio needs an update but inside looked great!

Freddy’s is a fantastic place to enjoy a great selection of small plates along with a fantastic variety of wine and beer. I highly recommend Freddy’s – we love to eat there before catching a show at the nearby Virginia Samford Theatre!
