Fantastic experience from start to finish. You can immediately tell the chef is deeply talented and genuinely passionate about food. The nigiri assortment was rooted in traditional technique, but each piece had a thoughtful, creative twist that enhanced the fish rather than overpowering it. Every bite was balanced, precise, and respectful of the quality of the seafood. This is the kind of sushi that reminds you how powerful simplicity and skill can be when done right. The dessert was beautiful, fresh, complex, and delicious without being overly sweet. A restaurant that clearly cares about craft, detail, and offering something special. Absolutely memorable and worth returning for.

Nice restaurant. Food was very good. Had the octopus, duck taco (served on a crepe not a tortilla, delicious combo of fatty duck and fatty foie gras), gambas (unexpected presentation but great), sashimi platter (acceptable), wagyu and foie gras hassleback (delicious, potato was excellent, fatty foie gras with thinly sliced wagyu worked well together), and wagyu sando (simple sandwich with tasty and tender meat, bread was not as good as sandos one can have in the US or japan but would still worth a try).
Only item we did not like and didn’t finish was the spicy crab and miso gyoza. They need to revisit that.
Unfortunately they were out of both the duck noodles and the yuzu dessert which was a somewhat annoying given that it was early lunch on a friday. The Yuzu was the only interesting dessert which made it a bit more dissapointing because i really wanted to see if their desserts kept up with their savory offerings.
Manager talked so much it became a bit annoying. Nothing was a quick verbal interaction, it just went on and on. At times felt like constant excuses or bragging. We also had the most hilarious interaction when we called to make a reservation. Unrelated to the hilarious phone conversation, we called at first in spanish and were told by the receptionist that there was a strict dress code. We then called in English and no dress code, some of us showed up in shorts and short sleeves. No problem, funny. Place was nice enough to have some sort of dress code tbh.

Nice restaurant. The staff were a little dismissive when my dining partner was asking some questions about what he can eat (he doesn’t eat raw fish or spicy foods). They were essentially telling him to order wagyu beef… This wasn’t a language barrier issue – he is a local.
I picked a selection of items that were suitable.
The tempura shrimp and vegetables were a little heavy on the tempura batter (the point is that it should be light…)
The smoked salmon roll was delicious.
The octopus was excellent (we got the crunchy chili sauce on the side)
the shrimp sandwich appetizer was delicious and the edamame with salt were good.
Prices for main course fish and wagyu were pretty high but since we got a selection of rolls and small plates so our meal was moderate. We did not have any drinks other than water

Amazing experience.
To start with the service it was flawless.
The food was also a great surprise. So many different and interesting options that you want to try all of them.
The restaurant itself is very elegant and cosy.
I ordered a combo of sashimi. Very well elaborated, amazing presentation and great taste. Also a churros sandwich. Strongly recommend both.

After a disappointing meal at Samurai 2 days ago, we were skeptical about finding good Japanese food in Santo Domingo. We were very close to canceling our reservation but so glad we didn’t. The food was fantastic. The squid chicharron was a gourmet version of Asian shrimp chips. The foie gras peking duck taco had generous pieces of delicious foie gras cooked perfectly on soft handmade tortillas. The sushi rice in the chirashi was good and the fish selection was really tasty and sliced well. We loved the trout, salmon and yellowtail. So flavorful.

The waygu ramen was a very interesting dish and the sushi rolls were very nicely done. Prices are fair for the food and service is good, but not great. Atmosphere is not excellent: we were sitting in the middle and you felt you were in an average food garden table.

I had the chance to experienced many restaurants in the cities ok Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo. But really the Okazu restaurant can compete without any doubt with all of them. The elegance of the place, the quality of the product and the large choice of Sake make it as one of the most valuable Japanese restaurant in D.R. The service is also perfect. A great place for a great moment with friends !

This is a mid to high end place, is not cheap but it is worth it.
Formal dressing is preferred but if you are going casual they have a terrace where you can be a little bit at ease.
Is recommended that you make reservations but staff is accomodating when possible.

Incredible Japanese food. Was recommended by a friend and was shocked at the quality. Our favorites were: The Sea Bream Usuzukuri (Guatapanal in Spanish for the fish), the black pepper steak, the fois gras gyoza, and the Okazu fried rice. While not Dominican food, it’s definitely worth the visit.
