One of the few coffee places in the area and they serve great coffee!
This shop is next to the smile faith dental building, can easily be overlooked if you don’t know what you are looking for.
They serve great coffee and has a large space on the back that can be rented for birthday parties etc.
If you are in the area, please drop by and support local business. Say hi to Chrystal for me, she is awesome!

I don’t love leaving a poor review but we were very disappointed by this experience. We decided to do a quick stop on a road trip home and despite the menu showing decaf as an option they had no decaf espresso. The iced lattes my sisters ordered were WAY too sweet and the lady never pulled any espresso from the machine but took the drinks the back and – we assumed – poured in iced coffee instead. Pieces were on the higher side for small town coffee. The atmosphere was lacking and the check out was very bumpy (had to manually enter credit card info and still paid cash because it failed three times). Signage was unclear and construction in the rest of the building made us question if we were in the right place. Overall would not repeat the stop again.

Coal City Coffee in Jenkins, Kentucky, is a true Appalachian treasure. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt the welcoming vibe, warm, cozy, and filled with the kind of charm you only find in small towns. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down and really enjoy your coffee.
Their iced coffee is fantastic, bold, smooth, and super refreshing. It’s not watered down like you find at chain places, and it hits just right whether you need a morning boost or a midday refresher. I asked for vanilla, and it was honestly perfect.
I also tried the hot latte, and it was exactly what I hoped for: strong but balanced, rich without being overpowering. The flavor spoke for itself, high-quality and satisfying.
As for the hot chocolate, wow. Creamy, chocolatey, and not overly sweet, it had a homemade taste that felt comforting. It’s the kind of drink that just makes you feel good, especially on a chilly day. Topped with whipped cream, it was the perfect treat.
What really makes Coal City Coffee special, though, is the people. The staff are kind, friendly, and genuinely care about what they do. It’s clear they put a lot of heart into this place. Whether you’re a regular or just passing through, they make you feel at home.
If you’re anywhere near Jenkins, KY, do yourself a favor and stop in. Whether you go for the iced coffee, the hot latte, or a cozy cup of hot chocolate, you’re going to leave with a smile. They also have pastries, and I have heard that they are really good.
