On a cold January evening, my wife and I celebrated by our anniversary at Chez Catherine. We indulged on exceptional French cuisine complimented with a perfect wine pairing. We started with the soup du jour and seafood crepe. Main dishes, we enjoyed the branzino and sole. The sole dish was prepared before our eyes. Our waiter was outfitted in a 3 piece suit. He was highly professional (and speaks several languages). Perhaps overdoing it, we also had the cheese plate. Decaf cappuccinos were meant to be with the desserts. I struck it rich with the Croustillant de Fruits Rouges. Even richer, my wife was able to eat about half of the Mousse au Chocolat et son Caramel Salé… dessert for tomorrow!
Yes, Chez Catherine is pricy but worth the experience. The decor is a bit dated. Staff was very busy but also attentive to our table and requests. Before heading out into the cold, the owner took a few minutes to get to know us and wish us a happy anniversary. This is a Westfield gem!

Our experience in this restaurant was very French and exclusive. Our server had a nice French accent which we loved . He was very friendly and had great suggestions and recommendations. The restaurant decor was neat but nothing elaborate. The food was splendid which takes all the 5s. I got the escargot in garlic parsley butter for appetizers and Tue duck confit for mains. The escargot was heavenly. My husband got the salad and the chicken dish and it was good as well. We did not have time for dessert unfortunately but I m sure that would be amazing too. I would like to visit another time very soon. So far this is the best French food in NJ.

This was A Wonderful experience. Top notch! Our Servers were awesome! One in particular was very friendly, charming and classy.
It’s rough for us to get out much, as I take care of senior parents in their ’90s …. So it’s a real treat to actually be able to go out for a few hours and to be treated with respect, being served…. And to boot, the food was wonderful. The presentation was great too! Everything. Recommend ! Bill was worth the $400 plus all day long.

Nice & friendly people in this place. There were few items that were really good: white chocolate cheesecake, muscles, the risotto. There were few things that are not acceptable for a place with prefix menu: 1. The wine was just poured without asking first for the customer to taste; 2. One of the desert was raspberry souffle and the inside of it was just… not even sure what word to use…unremarkable mushy consistency. To be fair the sauce was very good, but very little. This was a special and we were charged an extra $5 for it without telling us when the special was presented – just not wright! 3. Another item listed on the menu read as if you want a side table presentation it is $15 suplemental. We did not ask for it, but they came and did it (nothing spectacular) and charged us. I find those thicks to charge you more, very off-putting. It is not even about the money. Hi-end restaurants (this was $200/person) never use these practices. You got an extra $20, but lost a customer. So my real rating is 3 1/2 stars.

Celebrated our anniversary here. Food presentation was 5 out of 5. Some dishes were daring others were French classics like escargot. Everything was wonderful but I would like to mention a few things that I would improve. I dine at the most exclusive venues in the world like EMP and Le Bernardin, a prefix menus should always come with a wine pairing. Three or four course prefix menu is too limiting for the price. In addition, a prefix is a prefix and no additional cost should be added for any dish, otherwise it’s no longer a prefix. I felt like while the food was wonderful and the experience worthy, the price was just a little over what was presented. I’m taking my time to write this honest review in hopes that adjustments are made and if so, this might be the shiniest little gem in the area.
