First of all this restaurant offers free parking validation. So that was nice. It could be the timing of the visit as well and it happens to be on Christmas Day. The place was overly busy and it took about 10 minutes to get to a table. Once seated we got hot tea within 15 minutes, which is good, but then no one else came by to take our order. I had to ask the manager who paced back-and-forth delivering food to other customers. She said the carts would come around with food and she apologized for the delay. After waiting for about 40 minutes still no food and no food cart came around.
After about 45 minutes a gentleman named Vince came by and took our order. At the same time, he’s taking my order. The food cart came by and we were able to get three things from the cart. And he took the list back so the chef could cook. After that, no one else showed up. All the food we ordered went to the customers who came way after us, and happened to sit at the table close to us.
I totally understand the busyness, but how unorganized the restaurant was on this day was kind of hard to imagine. After more than an hour, we got five items and no one else came by to offer us any more food or bring the food that we ordered from the kitchen.
Everyone else got their food. The beef triples were crunchy, the beef honeycomb was overcooked, and the steamed beancurd was chewy and a bit stale.
Based on what we experienced today, I’m not sure we’ll be coming back to this restaurant.
We enjoyed the food overall, especially the pan-fried turnip cake and stuffed eggplant, which were both nicely done. The Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce was fresh and crisp. However, the service left something to be desired—the server seemed quite indifferent and didn’t smile once.
While I would consider returning to try more of the menu, I sincerely hope the service improves, as it affects the overall dining experience.
I notice an older worker using the bathroom and not wash his hands. He went back in the kitchen cooking. This honestly grossed me out.
I returned once more and the ha gao was not as flavorful. There wasn’t the same sweetness from the shrimp as before. The shrimp and chive dumpling was slightly hard, the shrimp noodle roll was soggy, and the honey walnut prawns tasted too crunchy as if deep fried too long and in old oil. I ordered lots more food but the price point was higher. Compared to Diamond Bay and other dim sum places, unfortunately Joyale has gone down hill. I hope this review can help the management improve not only the food but health safety practices. Lastly, the place could use a refresh. It’s looking pretty old decor wise.
Most of the food was great especially the Mongolian beef and sweet and sour pork.
Be forewarned the parking seems spooky if you haven’t been there before but it’s perfectly safe and easily accessible.
I will definitely go there again.
Prices were reasonable. Staff was friendly although we arrived early and was one of only 2 parties there. Couldn’t find the entrance to the parking garage easily but was able to find a street parking spot nearby.
Fried rice and chicken was good instead the “Squid Salt and Pepper” was like eating flour, the fried squid was so dry that the squid meat inside was as tough as plastic. I only tried 1 piece and told the staff just letting them know the food wasn’t right, and they said that I didn’t know it was supposed to be like this. Sorry, I’ve had this dish at other restaurants more than 10 times. Or your recipe is different, it’s ok but it’s too dry to swallow and has no seasoning at all.
Overall, there are 2 tables only at that time. A table of other guests who looked like the restaurant owner or the restaurant owner’s friends were incredibly noisy, laughing and screaming as if the restaurant was empty. So uncomfortable to be there.
I paid full price for the food that I don’t finish because wouldn’t want to deal with it.
Nice friendly employees. Good customer service.
Lots of good delicious full of flavor Chinese dishes. Including DimSum. Fresh food. Reasonable prices . Good portions.
Lunch specials with special prices.
Really busy during lunch & dinner times. Eventhough they are so busy with big groups, but are they still attentive.
Please give your self & your group lots of time if you go during their very busy times.
I highly recommend this place.
All reasonably priced.
