Took my kid to lunch at this Chinese restaurant, lucky star Chinese restaurant and found it to be solidly decent. The sweet and sour pork, chicken, and crab rangoon were all good…nothing groundbreaking or anything but exactly what you expect from a standard menu. The egg drop soup was good too. The environment was quiet and pleasant, with only a few people in for lunch, and it had a down-to-earth, family feel (the server even had her baby on her back, and there were a few kids doing homework in the corner). Lunch specials were reasonably priced at $10.95. Overall, it’s a standard, reliable spot….I wouldn’t say it’s like a game changer , but I’d happily come back.

We were headed to Trader’s Joe and was hungry. We decided to eat at the Chinese beside TJ. They served tea in a traditional pot and it was a good tea. Next came curry chicken. thin sliced tender chicken in an earthy deep flavored curry but with a hint of sweetness (tasted like fruit based). It has a nice warmth like a hug. We also got ma po tofu. my litmus test for a good Chinese restaurant. The verdict is beautiful crafter tofu in a deep luxurious brown gravy with ground pork. Not too spicy but definitely a bit different from the other spicy ma po tofu dishes. Highly recommend both dishes. Why? We had to order extra bowl of rice to sop up the gravy. Yum!

We have been going to the one in Covington for years.
She like I wanna get out of there we found this one next to Trader Joe’s, which is actually been here for a long time.
We got the family deal about $120. Food was good was on the heavier side as you know Asian food is.
Good quality it did take about 30 minutes to make the food.
A lot of takeout orders while we were there.
Their food doesn’t disappoint. I just didn’t like the pork option that was added on next time. I won’t be getting it for the family deal.
Love their stirfry rice.
It also came with a soup that we never got to the wonton soup. We just got so full from the food that we never made it to the soup.
We’ll go back here next time we’ll eat at the restaurant.

This food was sooo good. Some of the best chinese food I’ve had. The fried rice was delectable! The chicken was so crispy and flavorful. The chicken was fresh and didn’t taste processed like other places. The lunch was so good and cheap. I would come back again and again! We got the general tao’s chicken. The wontons were better than the pork for sure for the side 🙂

I’ve visited Lucky Star twice now. I’ve had take out and dined in. Food is average/good and I would visit again.
For take out, I had Szechuan chicken. It was good, but the food was swimming in sauce.
While dining in, I had the lunch special with General Tao’s chicken, an egg roll, egg flower soup, and steamed rice. This meal was under $12 and it was satisfying. Taste profile was average. Portion size was just right.
Service and atmosphere are lacking, but it’s not a deal breaker. Both times I’ve been to Lucky Star, staffing was bare minimum.

Tea was late and not hot and excessively leaking on the table. Came with a towel for clean up. The Egg Flower soup was not hot. Rice was frozen. The waitress’s baby was extremely noisy with her children playing video games in the first booth. We were never asked if we wanted anything else or more water. It’s was a bad experience!

Doordashed, very surprised at the care put into the dishes. I had the appetizer platter, pot stickers, and house hong kong chow mein. The platter was a white couple’s dream, pot stickers were CLEARLY home made and could have used a few pleats, and the chow mein had the sauce on the side to ensure the recently fried noodles stayed crispy

Vegetarian food options! Check the online menu for vegetarian options. The food was delicious, especially the general tso’s tofu. We requested everything with zero spice.

I have been coming here for years and I love this place. The food is awesome and the employees are even better. The Lunch Specials are the best in town. I recommend the General Tao’s Chicken.
