I’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants around the globe, and this one is certainly deserving of its honor.
The only gripe I had was the value. For the price paid, the quantity of the food was on the lower end, and the wine pairing was really over priced based on the quantity you get when compared to other Michelin starred restaurants.
But that said, the food quality is fantastic.
The food was fabulous. It’s hard to decide on a favorite dish – I enjoyed the varied flavors and textures through each course. If I had to pick it would be the scallop dish, the frog leg, and the tardor. Also, I wish I could’ve taken 100 of those empanadas to go! They were so juicy from the jowl. I also really enjoyed being taken to the bar to have tea time and mignardise. It was a nice dynamic touch.
Overall, the experience was splendid! I have been and will continue recommending it to everyone I know. Can’t wait to go back when I’m in the area. Thank you team!
The quality of the food was, of course, outstanding—each dish showcasing Chef Danny’s incredible talent and passion. However, what truly made the experience remarkable was the personal story put into every creation. It was clear that the chef’s life and love for the craft were infused into each bite.
The entire team was phenomenal. The seamless coordination and professionalism were evident, yet the atmosphere remained inviting and warm, almost as if I were a guest in their home. The hospitality truly set the evening apart and made it an amazing night.
It was such a memorable dinner. I deeply appreciated the effort and care you into making your feel special. I look forward to visiting again soon.
Each dish was like artwork- well thought out and with a story. Fresh, vibrant flavors. Gorgeous presentation.
Service was so personable. The whole team was working together to make sure our experience was flawless.
Chef Danny Lledo personally came to our table a few times to explain the courses and the inspiration behind them which made me feel like a celebrity What a great experience.
After being escorted to our table, the amazing service continued. As each course was presented, we received a card with detailed descriptions of the food being set before us. While every single bite was exquisite, but my favorite of the night was a play on a “partridge in a pear tree”–it was delicate and festive and an absolute delight. We also enjoyed wine pairings with every course, which were presented by the very knowledgeable sommelier (Xiquet has won many awards for their wine program!)
For the final course, we were led down to the second-floor lounge, which as exclusive as the dining room feels, the lounge gives off true VIP status. We received a variety of sweets and ordered a night cap, which we were able to enjoy leisurely, with no kind of pressure to “move along”. Everything from the food, the service and the space was the perfect for the making of a special evening, while not feeling “stuck up”. Make this your next stop for date night (or just a fun night out with friends)!
Food was fantastic. Light and delicate. The pork Wellington was little heavy after the delicate series of dishes. Paella and sea food – scallop and sea bass – dishes were savory and aromatic – wished for more!
The service was little static – the young man who was describing each dish and wine pairing seemed to be pressured and repeating what he had memorized about each plate.
Overall, great experience. The Chef personally greet you in the beginning and at the end. Also very nice touch.
With a well-deserved Michelin star that celebrates not only excellence but authenticity, every dish we tasted told a story, a tribute to Dani’s childhood in Dénia, to the flavors of the Mediterranean, and to the warmth of time spent with family and friends.
The cuisine at Xiquet does not aim to dazzle with theatrics, but rather to move and inspire through delicate textures, expressive ingredients, and presentations that narrate a culinary tale. The rice dishes are soulful, the seafood evokes the true taste of the sea, and the balance of tradition and creativity is masterfully executed.
Complementing the meal was flawless service, a genuine sense of hospitality that made us feel truly at home, and a perfectly curated wine pairing that enhanced every note of the tasting menu. All this in an intimate, elegant setting that transported us to the Mediterranean, without ever leaving the vibrant city of Washington, DC.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dani Lledó and the entire team at Xiquet for offering not just a dinner, but a deeply personal and emotional experience.
We will certainly return.
When we arrived, we were disappointed by the ambiance/atmosphere of the lobby. It felt like a “nice” take out restaurant. It was cold, the walls were banged up and the wooden staircase was very dirty and worn. (I guess I expected “high end” from start to finish when paying $1,500 (not including tip) for dinner.) The guests sat in the lobby until their table was ready and then escorted upstairs. We were, however, offered hot cider while we waited which was a nice touch for a cold evening.
When our table was ready, we were escorted upstairs to our table. There were 5 courses in the main dining area. Each course came with a little card explaining each of the foods as well as a glass of wine pairing for the dish…The servers were extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. After the “dinner courses”, we were escorted down to the 2nd floor to a bar/lounge area for courses 6-8 (dessert). When talking with the chef, my husband mentioned that we recently got married, and the chef gave us a complimentary dessert (not on the tasting menu for the night) as a congratulations (again, always appreciate the personal touch).
At the end of the night when we received our bill, the full amount was listed. As people who go to Olive Garden for a fancy meal, this was IMMEDIATELY stressful as we had already paid in full. We didn’t want to be “those people” who questioned the bill. However, when we overheard the couple next to us talking over the same issue, we laughed it off and asked the server if he could double check the price. He quickly corrected it and we only had to leave the tip. Overall, the food was stellar (some courses better than others). The octopus was one of our favorites! The presentation was beautiful and the portions were bigger than I expected (we left feeling full but not overwhelmed). Nothing stands out as a deterrent from the restaurant, but we expected a thoroughly seamless process from start to finish for 1. A Michelin Star restaurant 2. Paying close to $1,800 by the end of everything.
