I recently stopped by Taqueria La Sombrero in Lombard, and it was such a great experience. If you’re searching for quality Mexican food with a Halal option, this place truly stands out.
The chips were fresh and perfectly crispy, and the salsa had just the right amount of flavor and spice. I ordered the queso taco dinner with beans and rice, and everything was served hot and fresh. The tacos were incredibly flavorful and well-prepared — honestly some of the best Halal tacos I’ve had in the area.
To finish it off, I tried the churros, and they were absolutely delicious — warm, sweet, and the perfect ending to the meal.
Overall, the food was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. I would definitely recommend Taqueria La Sombrero to anyone looking for great Mexican Halal food in Lombard. I’ll certainly be coming back!

First time here. Ordered tacos which were prepared fresh right in front of you. Very generous on meat. Extremely tasty! Will come back again. Restaurant is small and can sit outside.

Nondescript. Clean. Quiet. Those are the words that came to mind when I first entered this establishment. But once the order was put in, and the food came out, the lady behind the scenes came out and was so gracious in ensuring everything was okay!
Everything we ordered was FIRE! From the this, to the GIANT burrito, to the nachos. My mom loved her horchata and I ordered my favorite: Jamaica – these folks definitely know how to get Jamaican right! I would highly recommend them!

I really wanted to enjoy this place, especially since it is halal, but I left feeling underwhelmed by the overall experience and some questionable pricing.
What I liked:
The taco birria platter. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up ordering a second platter. Definitely worth it!
What I didn’t like:
The guacamole and chips, which cost over $11, were very disappointing. They lacked flavor and had a bitter taste, possibly from crushed lime seeds as I found one in there. If I am being charged an entree-level price for chips and guacamole, I expect exceptional flavor and uncompromising quality. We also ordered cheese quesadillas that were not listed on the menu and were charged over $13 for three tacos filled only with cheese. I didn’t get quesadillas! Had I known this beforehand, I would have ordered three individual tacos instead. There is also no kid-friendly menu. This is about not being mindful and transparent with pricing. I am unsure if I will be returning.

Came here last night with my husband and I was INCREDIBLE IMPRESSED! The service & food was EXCEPTIONAL! The waiter was super sweet and friendly, even the woman behind the wall who I’m assuming made the BRIAA tacos was such a joy! These were probably the best Halal BRIAA taco I’ve ever had! The outer layer had a perfect crunch, the taco wasn’t too overly full with meat. Had the perfect consistency of cheese, meat & crunch! The consome was DELICIOUS!
Also everything was super affordable which I liked! My husband and I will definitely return! Amazing!! 10/10!

I came here because a friend who went recommended it. I got the quesa birria taco platter and it was delicious. The meet was tender, the tortilla had a little crunch to it, and the consomme dipping sauce was flavorful and warm. This comforting meal is perfect for a winter day. I also had a horchata which had a strong cinnamon flavor which I enjoyed, but a little too sweet for my liking.
The service was good. Our server seemed like he was new to the job so he was a little late giving us our menus and letting us know where we should sit. But I do not mind that because he checked on us during our meal and made sure we had everything once we sat down. The chef was extremely welcoming and she made sure to ask us if we enjoyed our food.
This restaurant also serves halal meat which is a great plus. I would say one complaint I have is the pricing of the food. While it is yummy, I think 16 dollars for 3 tacos is too much.

The tacos were savory along with all the salsas. First time trying Halal the meat was delicious! My fiancé loves tacos and said this is one of the better spots for them. Server was super friendly and accommodating. The place had a great energy and nice decor. Wishing this business the best always and I’m certain myself and my fiancé will be back again.

First time customer. I have driven by this place multiple times and I finally stopped in. Lulu took my order and cooked the meat and made the guacamole fresh right in front of me. My taco had tons of steak and the guacamole were delicious. Chips and Salsa were not too hot and the chips are fresh. Prices are fair.
