My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and hash brown potatoes. Was OK, the restaurant doesn’t serve any pork products as it is a Halal restaurant nowhere did it mention this. Bistro? Not a bistro nothing to do with JL Hudson’s. More of a diner atmosphere than bistro. More Middle Eastern than American. I have the falafel sandwich was was adequate at best. Serve a voice was OK one person serving and running the register, Which was OK since we were the only customers. We won’t be returning.
Many years ago my mother worked at Hudson’s. And the cafeteria is where I would enjoy many lunches / dinners. Upon entry. The decor is actually pretty cool. Polished concrete floors. Dark marble style counter walls and the use of black / yellow and wood grain make the space modern yet inviting. The space is clean and organized. The initial service counter is slightly industrial in feel with the colorings and stainless steel. But your there for the food. Not the behind the scenes.
Now onto the surprise. This is NOT JL Hudson’s Cafeteria. Not one bit. Mediterranean food. SURPRISE ! We didn’t see that coming. They do serve a Maurice salad named ” Famous Hudson Salad ” for $15. And it is a large salad. Enough for two people to enjoy hands down. And from memory, this salad is pretty good.
We ordered the chicken shawarma pita and the #4 NICE pita. Corned beef with onion. Mushroom. I substituted the honey mustard for the garlic sauce and was pleased. There’s a lot going on in that pita with flavors that you can’t go wrong.
I enjoyed the experience. Being a little surprised at what we walked into. We managed to find items that we enjoyed and ultimately would go back for.
Pricing will possibly surprise you. As the two of us with two pitas/ with chips, One salad and two fountain drinks were $ 51 and some change.
The name is confusing. But the food was good.
And the server / counter girl were quite friendly and attentive. One star was taken away as what we were expecting from the name was NOT what we walked into.
