The decor has a good pizza place vibe. We ordered mozzarella sticks and a pepperoni/jalapeño pizza. As usual, the mozzarella sticks are just frozen from a bag. Rarely do I get the place that takes the 2 seconds to hand roll mozzarella in bread crumbs and toss it in fryer. I guess it’s too easy to make them homemade.
The pizza was solid. Very good. Probably a 7.7 on the Portnoy scale. After eating we went to the small arcade and played some pinball. I will say they absolutely soak every last dollar they can for food. I mean, $23 for large cheese then $3 for each decent topping. Cheesecake for $13, cheesticks for $12. As high as you can go.
Overall this restaurant is what I would call a standard pizza place. Decent food, pinball and a pizza atmosphere. Nothing that knocks your socks off and nothing that draws you back. One of those, one and done stops.
UPDATE TO THE OWNER REPLY: No offense, you come off defensive and full of excuses. My review is my opinion and it should be taken as constructive criticism. If you’re an owner, replies like that are not what you should be doing.
We ordered the Meatball Specialty pizza. It has some snazzy, official name. It comes with 2 kinds of mootz, a little Ricotta and some thinly sliced onions with meatball bits.
The crust is very nice.nits thin and crisp with a great mouth texture and chew. They have that crust bit down nicely, which is terrific for these parts, but the flavors aren’t there, which is unfortunate.
We also ordered the Hot honey wings. We asked for well done and they weren’t rendered and were too fatty. Down at the bone was bloody. No good.
The hot honey sauce was actually nice and tasty, but there is no saving the wings when they are near raw on the inside.
It seems they make their own Ranch and Blue Cheese, which we really appreciated and enjoyed but again, wings fell really short.
I’ll bet when you have the owners in house or the right guys in the kitchen these guys can really shine out in these parts, but our 1 LG Meatball pizza, 1 order of 6 wings 1 soda and 1 water was $49 bucks with a suggest $7.49 tip
We prefer, dare say, “love” the Pizza Shop, in town, and wanted to test out elsewhere.
Pizza cheeks is a bust for us.
Though not a big menu, they have a few pasta, salad and appetizer options in addition to the pizza.
We ordered their Cheeks Deluxe House Pie. Which is basically a supreme. It was very good though the crust was a bit overdone maybe. Crispier than we like anyway, giving it a bit of a cracker feel to us. But we discussed next time maybe asking them not to bake it as long. We would have preferred more sauce for sure for such a crispy crust, and perhaps more toppings would have helped. But it was still very good and we loved their version of a supreme, using sweet yellow bell pepper instead of the usual green! They have two size options – small is 12″, large is 18″. We got the 18″ Cheeks Deluxe House Pie for $32 and it was eight rather large slices! Pop was $3. We did not order any other beverages.
We liked the atmosphere – roomy, pleasant, comfortable. There’s a small bar and a small arcade.
Server was friendly though not good on follow up! We realized they were busy but as many times as he walked right by our table, he never asked how we liked the food, if we needed drink refills, how we were or anything else.
Overall, a nice experience with a different hostess thanking us upon leaving! We will definitely return for pizza again and to try other menu items.
