We recently ate at Viva Goa Cuisine and hands down, it was absolutely amazing! We tried the prawns fry, promfret fry, Bombay duck fry, along with biryani and chicken coconut gravy. Every single dish was packed with authentic Goan flavors and so well prepared.

The prawns fry and Bombay duck were definitely my favorites, perfectly seasoned, crispy, and full of that coastal spice that instantly reminded me of Goa. The chicken coconut gravy was rich and comforting, and the biryani complemented everything beautifully.

It genuinely felt like a little trip back to Goa. The quality, taste, and portion size made it completely worth the cost. If you’re craving authentic Goan food, this place is definitely worth a try!

This is a long overdue review about an incredible restaurant worth visiting if you’re in Houston. My family and I were visiting Houston for a two day work trip. I happened to stumble upon Viva Goa while stuck in traffic and told my husband about it when I got to the hotel. Being Goan, he thought we should check it out. And we did. The food was absolutely delectable and so reasonable. It felt like a Goan grandmothers cooking made with so much love. We absolutely loved every dish that we tried and would give this place a 10/10 rating. We loved it so much that we came the following night for dinner and the afternoon before our departure. And finally we took tons of food in our cooler back home that we absolutely devoured in the days to come. We cant wait to visit Houston again and you best believe we will be eating here everyday. Viva Viva Goa team. You guys rock. Mog asu

Wonderful Goan food. The fish fry is excellent. I don’t know any other place that serves Bombay Duck (a fish not duck). Every dish we had was excellent.

I found this gem a while back on maps and finally had the opportunity to try it. My family and I are Konkans from Karnataka and we loved everything we ordered that we forgot to take pictures.

For food we got Beef tongue green curry, Hakka noodles, Goan ambot tik pomfret, Pork Aad Maas, Chapati, and a mango dessert with fruit. We ordered to-go and everything we ordered was in the bag.

We hope to come in person next time so we can try more of the menu that reminds us of the flavors of home ❤️

Loved having authentic Goan good after so long. If possible go for dinners vs lunch as they have more goan food options then. I really wanted sorpotel so even though they were not serving, they gave me frozen packed sorpotel. Really liked to have that option!

If you’re in Houston and looking to try something truly unique, Viva Goa is the perfect spot for authentic Goan cuisine. Most Indian restaurants in the US serve either North Indian or South Indian food. Goan food is incredibly rare, and Viva Goa stands out as a one-of-a-kind gem. The flavors and dishes here are exactly like what you’d find in Goa itself. The expertise of the chef Johnny, and he hails from Goa, shines through all the food at this place.

Every dish we tried was amazing. Rawa fried prawns and bombay duck, fried kingfish, goat xacuti and my favorite pork sorpatel were all to die for. The focus on traditional Goan flavors is what makes Viva Goa so special.

There’s another Goan-inspired restaurant in Houston, Da Gama, which offers a more fusion take on the cuisine but and at a much higher price point. While Da Gama has its appeal, Viva Goa delivers a more traditional and authentic experience that’s hard to find, making it a clear winner if you’re craving true Goan food.

The service was friendly and efficient, making the entire experience even better. For anyone in Houston who wants to explore this rare and flavorful cuisine, Viva Goa is a must-visit. You won’t be disappointed!

We were really excited to visit Viva Goa because their menu features so many dishes we love and miss from back home in India. They offer a great variety, and we tried a few standout items.

The mackerel fish curry was good, with fresh-tasting fish and well-balanced flavors. We were especially eager to try the bombil fish fry, as it’s rare to find bombil here. Unfortunately, the fish wasn’t fresh, which was disappointing. The pork sorpotel was another dish I was looking forward to, but it had an unpleasant smell that made it difficult to eat.

On the bright side, the fish fingers were absolutely delicious! We ordered them for our toddler, and they were incredibly fresh—the fish practically melted in our mouths. If there’s one dish we’d highly recommend, it would be this one.

The staff and owners were warm, welcoming, and a pleasure to talk to. Despite some hits and misses, we will definitely be visiting again to try more dishes!

Quaint restaurant that conveniently stays open late. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. I love late night food so I will return next time I’m in town.

Really good place for Indian food from the state of Goa, where Portuguese influence has created a cuisine very different from the rest of India. Family run joint, small but decent bar with a decent offering of core brands. Good food, good pricing.

This place was certainly not on our list to try and we almost missed out this gem of a place! Plan was to eat at a different place and thankfully the place was over crowded and in our search for another good joint we ended up here. The food here was just amazing. We had shrimp fried rice, shrimp curry king fish fry and butter chicken for our kid. even the butter chicken was simply delicious and our son who can be the pickiest of eaters was raving. if we visit houston again, we will be visiting again. too bad they dont have a branch where we live. 🙁 this is a must visit restaurant..
