I loved the beautiful art on the walls. I went in to try the chicken and waffles but the owner, who greeted me at my table, recommended the red beans and rice. I also chose fish, corn bread and a side of onions rings. Everything was delicious! It was fresh with lots of flavor. The service was great as well as the price. My only complaint is that I dont stay in the area to stop by more often.

Lost Post Alert: Today was a great day after the hard day I had yesterday so here what my bestfriend/sister Neaka Cook does she calls me up all the times with lil adventures for us whether it’s picking up puppies or we’re finding new venues to eat at that just we do together as sisters ❤ and I love her that welll this isn’t all just about us so moving on to what really matters so she calls me up Tuesday and tells me we’re going to Velma Jean’s a black owner family oriented restaurant in Tylertown Ms so I I’m ok cz im always down for a ride. We make it there and we’re greeted and escorted to our table on the patio by the wonderful owners Bee Martinez and @Velma Jean’s some of the most hospitable, humble, and professional but out goin ppl I could’ve met it was like goin back home for a family reunion and this was our first time visiting there. The food was amazing as well I had the chicken and waffle and I couldn’t even finish it all the chicken was seasoned on point the waffle was moist fluffy and I also had the Uncle Rick’s Orange Dream Pop or maybe soda and it was delicious for the ones that like the orange sherbert and vanilla flavors and my bestie had the Red Beans and Rice and Fried Chicken with cornbread (which she’s not a cornbrean gal but she ain’t that and wanted another piece) which didn’t stand for its photo opt before she demolished it not completely but enough to b full and she also Strawberry lemonade and 4 mimosas. We never had to wait for serve he was always popping up making sure that everything was alright then we formally met Mrs. Velma and when I say we could’ve just sat and talked to them for hours man we could’ve!! The atmosphere was astounding it had me feeling like a Sunday evening with family just enjoying other young and old sitting around listening to the older people tell their story growing up man we need more places like this around now… We will definitely be frequenting there again and keeping in touch with them next time I’ll bring the kids more mouths .. Bestfriend also got her a take home order as well and im sure she’ll share the reviews on what she had with guys too and oh yea we had cake for dessert she had a piece of the I wanna say it was called sour cream pound cake and a piece of key lime cake and also had the poundcake that we have yet to try still full from earlier and FYI everything is homemade and cooked with tons of love … @Bee Martin if that not the names on the cakes correct me if I’m wrong… But if you’re by any chance is goin thur or is by the Tylertown area plz stop and give Velmas’ Jean’s restaurant a try I guarantee you would like it it’s so homey….

I love the entire experience there. The food does not only look amazing, but also tasted fantastic. The staff are extremely kind people and speaking with them is generally a pleasure. Also, the entire vibe of the restaurant is reminiscent of a family diner that you would see in a movie. Overall an amazing place to eat and bring friends and family.

Stopped and had lunch here today! The hospitality was awesome! They made us feel so welcome as if we were their only customers. I can’t say enough about the experience. The food was amazingly delicious! Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in the area! Hands down the best place in Tylertown Mississippi!!!

It was definitely well worth the drive. The food was delicious and you will definitely get full. The people are amazing and friendly. I got the chicken and waffles (of course) and James got the Red beans and rice with fried chicken and corn bread. And couldn’t get out the door without a piece of the best cream cheese pound cake I have ever eaten.
Will definitely be going back and highly recommend trying it out if you haven’t already.

We stopped in on a Girls trip to try this place out. Hands Down the BEST fried Chicken I have ever eaten. The service was great Mrs. Velma herself came to talk to us which was super cool of her. I had the Chicken and waffles. Small little place, but I would definitely come back here to get more Chicken. It may even be worth the drive itself..

My wife and I met up with my parents here on our way home and was immediately pulled in by the smell of the food. We both had chicken and waffles. The chicken was nice and hot, crispy, and incredibly juicy. The waffles were also crisp on the outside and had a beautiful bite once you added in the chicken and syrup. My parents, who hadn’t ordered anything, eventually each bought a rib plate because of how good it smelled, and those were fantastic as well. The staff were also incredibly friendly and nice. From the woman serving, the those who brought out our food, to Velma herself who came out to let us know the cherry pie would be coming out soon nice and hot. Also, all the staff wore masks and they had a great outdoor seating setup. A wonderful lunch, will be stopping here again on our next drive through Tylertown!!
