This restaurant is wayyyyyy above my expectations. I was moving from Seattle all the way to LA and stayed in Red Bluff for just one night, so I expected something that’s just okay and fills my stomach. However, as an Asian myself, I can say for sure that Ikkyu is extremely authentic. The ramen broth is great, what really shocked me is that THEY PUT GEODUCK IN THEIR RAMEN! Basically geoduck is a very high-end Asian seafood that costs ~$45/lb and is rarely found even in LA. I can’t believe there are so many pieces of geoduck in a ramen that’s only $16 . Besides taste, their service is great too. I seldom write positive reviews but I gotta give Ikkyu some credits!

I’m not sure if they change owners but their food is not like how it used to be. Their challenge noodles was my boyfriend’s favorite and now they completely changed it. I also ordered a dragon roll and I’m livid. I live in Chico and I came all the way to red bluff just to order from here cause their food used to be top notch. The dragon roll doesn’t even have tempura shrimp and only 2 measly pieces of eel. Those are the main ingredients in a dragon roll. Instead it only has imitation crab and avocado. I could have made that myself. The sushi literally tasted like they brought it from a gas station. Never coming back as they clearly have downgraded.

Ordered to go…..some of the worst sushi I’ve had. I couldn’t eat my salmon sashimi, I was afraid it might make me sick. It was cut badly, a strange color/smell, and had brownish markings on it. I had to throw it out. Such a waste of money.

I thought, perhaps, that this place would be better the 2nd time around, but I can honestly say…I won’t be back!
Food was decent, and the portion sizes substantial (even the nigiri sushi was generously sliced, if the options were limited), but the service??
Not only was I not checked on during my dining (never got even a water refill or asked if I wanted another beverage), but I waited 15 minutes AFTER my meal was completed, before I had to ask for my check from halfway across a near empty restaurant.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT come here! Anywhere else would be preferable for better service.

We were passing through Red Bluff bringing our son home from camp. We asked him to pick anything he wanted for dinner since he’d been eating camp food for two weeks, and he declared that he wanted sushi. I thought this would be a hard find here, but I looked it up and saw Ikkyu had pretty good reviews. We reluctantly went and it blew us away! Great rolls, great service! And it was packed with locals (always a good sign). Highly recommend the red dragon and green dragon roll!

First time I was here, it was horrible. It was about 6 months ago. But since they’ve changed ownership I decided to give it another chance. The difference is night and day and I’ve learned that the old owner is back. Everyone and the food was excellent! Thanks to our server Nolan (excellent server) was really knowledgeable about the menu and the service was outstanding. 5 stars I will be returning definitely, you guys shouldn’t miss out!
