We had Birria Tacos and Chorizo Taco & Chips with Gua on the side. Let me start with freshness, chips was hot and freshly fried, which we found vey rare. Chorizo was well done and tasty. Service was very fast, it took hardly 5 min to get the food served at table. Coming back for sure.

One of the best birria tacos I’ve had in Madison. The restaurant’s setting isn’t as elaborate as some of the other Mexican restaurants though. I’d consider it more of a fast casual spot than a sit-down dining place.

2nd best birria I’ve had. Quesabirria definitely worth $14. It came out fast too. Workers are friendly. Bathroom could use some work. The red hot sauce was tasty. Mango juice was good. Horchata was decent.

Happened across this place by chance – definitely coming again! I got the steak fries. Came hot and quick. Inside of the restaurant was clean and had good music and seating.

Tacos El Capi was recommended to me by friends and we decided to stop on the way home from a road trip on Friday and get some take-out. The restaurant is not very big and most of the tables were full so I’m hoping that they are doing well because we will be coming back as our food was excellent. We both ordered the 3 tacos entree I got mine with beans and rice she got hers with just the tacos I did all ground beef she got chicken beef and pork. Even though it was busy our order was ready to go in maybe 5 minutes. Everything was very good with plenty of fillings in all the tacos. My companion said the chicken taco was especially good. If your around the corner of Johnson St. and East Wash. and want Mexican food don’t go to Taco Bell support a local restaurant and go to Tacos El Capi you won’t be disappointed. Sorry no photos was to busy enjoying the food will add some on the next time we stop here which will be soon.

Im a new resident to the area and glad I found this small taco establishment. The decor is great, staff were amazing and even gave me a recommendation for what to try. I had the birria tacos and they were AMAZING. I’ll definitely be back to try their other dishes!

I finally found my go-to spot for Mexican food in Madison! Mexican food is my absolute favorite, so I’ve been on the lookout for a place that really delivers—and Tacos el Capi does just that.
So far, I’ve tried the chicken street tacos and the steak nachos, and both were outstanding. The flavors are fresh and authentic, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. But the real standout? The guacamole—it’s seriously amazing and a must-try!
If you’re craving delicious, authentic Mexican food, this is definitely the place. I’m already excited to go back and try more of the menu!

Tacos El Capi has become true community staple, serving up some of the most authentic and delicious tacos you’ll find anywhere. The flavors are spot-on, from the savory mole enchiladas to their stuffed chimichangas, all made with care and tradition. Beyond the food, it’s the warmth and hospitality of the owner and staff that make this place special. It’s more than just a taco spot—it’s a gathering place where neighbors connect over amazing meals. Tacos El Capi has earned its place as one of my local favorites, and if you haven’t been, you’re truly missing out. Thank you for everything you bring to the community. -Tony
