Well, on this last visit, the cod fish and chips was crispy and flaky and hot and delicious and boy those wings are excellent just naked with only the dry rub and no sauce. And we had a server we hadn’t had before and she, too, did a great job with service – Lydia. Wow, that was a fun dining experience.
It’s not just the food, the service and the more than decent wine list that keep us coming back to Bubb’s, it’s also the warm and welcoming atmosphere and the feeling of true camaraderie and community we get at Bubb’s. We’re lucky to have this place in Catalina. Give them a visit it you haven’t done so yet – you won’t regret it.
Bubb’s Grub is awesome! It’s been a regular go-to for my wife and me but I thought I should point out why. First of all, the service is phenomenal. We are treated like absolute royalty. It feels like being home all the servers (shout out to Cole and Delaney in particular, but really we get excellent service from every one of the servers like Steve and Louis!), all the managers, they’re all great. They anticipate our needs and they exceed our expectations and our expectations are pretty high in the first place. Just always a good time when we eat here.
Now, the food. Yes, the barbecue is excellent. The juicy brisket is indeed juicy and flavorful. The barbecue chicken is delicious delicious well seasoned and tender. But the steak is outstanding as well – really flavorful really tender, cooked to the temperature you asked for an absolutely delicious. And really a very reasonable price – don’t sleep on the steak.
Another dish you shouldn’t sleep on is the burger because it’s also great – very flavorful. And the french fries are crispy and hot. They’re the crinkle cut type and they’re really good.
The chili is also excellent and so are the tobacco onions. Those are an excellent appetizer or an accompaniment for certain dishes.
Wine list is pretty good as well
You can see why this is easily such a nice place to dine. And that’s why we keep returning.
There were four of us for lunch. Each of us got something different. I got a two meat platter and got two servings of brisket. Tender enough to cut with a butter knife. I ordered the fries and a side salad (up charge) as my sides. It also came with Texas toast or tortillas which I gave to hubby. It came with pickles and jalapeños which I ate with the meat. Hubby got the burnt ends appetizer and a side of baked beans. He thought the ends were equal to our favorite spot in Florida (my brisket was better). He wasn’t real fond of the baked beans; he said they tasted like they had chili powder in them.
Our friends had bbq pork, “tender, melt in your mouth” comments and fried walleye. Can’t get that anywhere else in Arizona most likely. He was pleased he tried it.
Negative are the bathrooms where you have to go outside out back. They aren’t exactly convenient or clean.
The service by Kelly was stellar and the food came out fast. Its worth the drive if you dont live in catalina
We started with the Japan Poopers as an appetizer, and they were downright delicious — packed with flavor and just the right amount of kick to wake up the taste buds.
For our main, we shared the three-meat combo and went with the brisket, hot links, and pork ribs. Every bite was on point. The brisket was tender and juicy, full of smoky depth. The hot links were savory with just the right hint of spice, and the pork ribs? Fall-off-the-bone perfection. You could tell everything was slow-cooked with care and tradition.
From the welcoming staff to the hearty, flavorful food, Bubb’s Grub is a BBQ joint we’ll be talking about for a while. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re anywhere near the area — it’s well worth it.
As I settled in, Dan took the time to share the fascinating history of Bubb’s Grub, which added a personal touch to my experience. It’s clear that this establishment has a rich legacy and a passion for serving delicious food.
Now, let’s talk about the food! The dish I tried was a testament to their commitment to quality and flavor. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Whether you’re in the mood for a steak, hearty burger or a mouthwatering side, Bubb’s Grub has something to satisfy every palate.
Overall, my visit to Bubb’s Grub was not just a meal; it was an experience filled with great food, excellent service, and a wonderful story. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I can’t wait to return!
