The interior is beautiful and if you value history you would enjoy it, although when it gets packed it might be more difficult to enjoy.
Since we were there during the lunch time, we took the lunch menu (26 euros for a starter + a main dish) which is a great value.
Our waiter asked how we would like to have our drinks, together with food or separately and then brought it separately anyways. In one of the appetizers (a duck terrain) they didn’t remove plastic package. The waiter just apologized for that but didn’t offer any feasible solution.
The food tasted alright. It’s not bad but it’s not great. Yes, the value is really good and if you want to eat in a restaurant with 300 years of history, it’s definitely worth it. However if you want to enjoy a delicious meal without crowds and buzz, maybe consider other options.
I didn’t find any reviews mentioning these downsides so I hope it might be useful for someone.
The food was absolutely delicious especialy the Ravioli Duphine beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish was prepared with great attention to detail and high-quality ingredients.
The staff made me feel truly welcome from the moment I arrived. Special thanks to Claire for her professionalism and kindness.
The atmosphere was warm and elegant, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return.
We leaned into the spirit of the place and ordered what’s advertised as the revolutionaries’ favorite champagne: the 2016 Champagne Jacquart Blanc de Blancs – absolutely delicious and perfectly celebratory. For starters, we had the classic onion soup and a soft-boiled egg with mushrooms, both light, comforting, and beautifully done.
For mains, I chose the Revolutionaries’ Beef Tenderloin, while my husband went with the Angus Beef Steak. Both were flavorful and satisfying, served with excellent sides-au gratin potatoes for me and French fries for him. Dessert sealed the deal: artisan ice cream and pavlova, light and indulgent in the best way.
The service truly elevated the evening. A special shout-out to Schuman and Arnold, who made our anniversary feel genuinely special. From the warm welcome at the door (including coat service and a wonderful table by the window) to the friendly goodbye as we left, every staff member was gracious and attentive.
History, great food, wonderful service- Le Procope isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. An unforgettable way to celebrate a milestone.
The food is very delicate and refined, real French cuisine, the only problem is the limited option for non-meat eater on lunch menu.
Went in on New Year’s Day around 3pm even with reservation this place was a mad house right at the entrance.
Eventually after half an hour wait finally got a table.
With at least 2 floors and many rooms, the place was busy. Was that because of its history OR New Year’s Day or the combo, not sure?
Anyway with low expectation of the food and expecting higher prices I actually came out enjoying the food.
Braised beef cheek with parmesan ragatoni 28.50€ was very filling and delicious. The beef was fork tender and pasta al denté. Slightly pricey but not ridiculous given it’s popularity and history.
Service was as expected very French like though staff all seem to speak good enough English to deal with people like myself. They provided service prompt enough but not intrusive and pushing you out for the next dining group.
The interior decor you won’t be able to tell it’s 400+years old (not sure if it’s always at the same location) and I’m sure building in and out has been renovated over time.
Overall very satisfied with the experience, the food, decor etc.
We started with foie gras, which was perfectly prepared — delicate, well-balanced, and very elegant. For the main course, we chose the Angus steak and the scallops with risotto. Both dishes were outstanding: the steak was juicy, cooked exactly as requested, with deep, rich flavor, while the scallops were perfectly seared and paired beautifully with a creamy, well-seasoned risotto.
For dessert, we had the famous Floating Island, which was light, refined, and a wonderful example of classic French pastry — the perfect way to end the meal.
Everything was excellent: the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The staff was professional, attentive, and welcoming, and the historic setting made the experience even more special.
Le Procope is a true Parisian institution that delivers both tradition and quality at the highest level.
Highly recommended — we will definitely return.
service was mostly excellent. the waiters were efficient and polite. the staff at the front desk started speaking English to me almost immediately which I fear is a Paris initiation ritual. to the lovely front desk staff I thank you for your professional attitudes and kindly recommend that you consider the tourist in front of you trying to speak French is simply having hearing in the crowded restaurant.
entrée – escargots – phenomenal. have been waiting years to try snails again. did not disappoint.
main – coq au vin historique – the chicken itself was dry but the sauce, assorted vegetables and added ingredients were beautifully seasoned
dessert – tiramisu – HEY NOW HEY NOWWW THIS IS WHAT DREAMSSSSS ARE MADE OF. I don’t know how I’m meant to go back to eating regular tiramisu now’s big yum
wine – rosé was yum !
atmosphere was so fascinating to me. the interior decor is stunning. Only restaurant I’ve ever been to where four languages are are being spoken at once. I don’t think I would recommend it for solo dining simply because of the seating arrangement (very close to other couples) and if I was to go again I would bring a friend.
price – expensive for a reason and it’s a good reason.
would recommend for 2+ people, not for solo.
merci l’équipe Procope !
Classic French cuisine and professional service.
We arrived early and easily got a table without a reservation. A lovely Parisian experience.
But what really made the night unforgettable was the exceptional service. The staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly informative. A special shout-out to Guido Maggiolo, Deputy Director, who went above and beyond to make our visit perfect. His kindness and professionalism truly elevated the experience.
I can’t recommend Le Procope enough. A must-visit in Paris!
