This place was cute, warm and mind blowing!!! Starter was Duck Croquettes, Asian slaw, pickled plum and plum sauce. Which was beautiful and main was Duo of Lamb, mini shepherds pie, rack of locally sourced Kerry lamb, confit of garlic, thyme Jus. It was cooked to perfection and exactly what our long journey needed. I would be very happy to come back here.

Everything about this restaurant was gorgeous – from the cozy, fire lit atmosphere in the old schoolhouse to the warm welcome from our server Lisa. Our group of eight chose the prix fix menu and enjoyed a variety of gorgeous dishes prepared by chef – sweet, seared scallops, and flavour packed duck croquettes; followed by the hake, steak and lamb two ways, each one of us finished their meal with a smile on their faces. Big thanks to Lisa for accommodating our post wedding group’s reservation day of, and thanks to you and chef for the lovely hospitality!

Flavour is excellent, service prompt, and the presentation of the dishes was clearly very thought through.
Reviews and menu photos here are a bit misleading, note that it is now €55 for a two course meal and €60 something for a three course. BUT IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!
Also for gluten free people, the menu is varied and seems pretty accomodating. Most restaurants don’t have as many options as this one. The gluten free desserts were a highlight.
Brought group of 8 so here is the group ratings on assortment of dishes:
~ Starters
Calamari : 7/10 pretty good, somewhat chewy but taste was good and batter just grand
Chicken wings: 8/10 would recommend for people who like very sweet sauce on chicken wings
Duck briquette: 8/10 one of the better ones we’ve tasted
~ Mains
Lamb duo: 10/10 definitely the most enjoyed by everyone, cottage pie was incredibly tasteful and the lamb was cooked to perfection
Chicken supreme: 9/10 also very delicious, portion size a bit on the smaller size but with a starter before it’s perfect
Steaks: 7/10 they were quite sinewy, a bit unsalted, but with the pepper sauce over it was just right so be sure to put the sauce on for a better taste
~ Desserts
Sticky toffee pudding: 12/10, not only gluten free but absolutely delicious
Brownie: 10/10 very rich and chocolatey
~Children’s meals
Penne pasta: 9/10 according to a ten year old, the sauce and cheese came seperate so kids can customise to their taste
Chicken goujons with chips: 7/10 according to 8 year old
Overall good experience and would absolutely recommend for a special occasion!

After 10 days on the Beara Way and almost daily pub food, we found this germ. The service: outstanding! the food: fantastic – if you are in Kenmare this is a mandatory place to visit for a nice eve out.

We were staying in Lansdowne Hotel and the receptionist recommended this Restaurant. It was absolutely excellent from starter right through to the Crepes. We had the Chowder and Prawn Cocktail to start and then the Lamb and Steak and finished with the Crepe and a glass of Port. Honestly it was fantastic and to top it all the staff were excellent and the Chef/Owner then came out and sat with us for a chat so you got a real feel for how it works. If you are in Kenmare or within 100km this restaurant is worth the effort.

My fiancé and myself went for dinner about 3 weeks ago looking for something special to celebrate her birthday and unfortunately it didn’t meet the expectations. I thought for the price, the presentation of the plates and the good reviews from the other customers I was picking the best restaurant in Kenmare but don’t think I was right. The service was very friendly and the place is lovely but the food was very average and not well cooked. For a menu of 2 plates for 47,5€, you would expect much more.
We ordered a prawn cocktail which was extremely plain and smoked salmon which was also nothing outstanding. As a main course we ordered two hakes, presentation was great, but one of them was overcooked and killed all the flavour. At that stage we decided to go somewhere to take the dessert as weren’t happy at all.

I had the most beautiful chowder. The soup was nice, served with bread and olive puree. Sirloin was nice with delicious sauce. I was a bit disappointed in the rack of lamb as it was very rare, but the shepard pie was scrumptious. Dessert was the best! Staff were very accommodating and lovely atmosphere!

I was very excited to try this place unfortunately it fell very short on the expectations. This was probably our only bad meal in out 9 day trip in ireland.
We were sat at a very small table in the back where I barely had space to move back my chair to sit without hitting the person behind me
I ordered the chowder and lamb duo, my husband ordered scallops and and a beef dish.
Starters were ok. Nothing really wrong with them. The main courses my lamb was very disappointing, it was both overcooked and stone cold, the taste was also off like if it was made in the same pan with fish and not well seasoned. The beef dish was also lacking in seasoning, fat was not rendered. Definitely not a meal worth the price.
We decided to skip desert
waiters were polite but service was not the best, I did not get a meat knife like my husband did, dishes were very cramped on the table and waiters were having a hard time getting things on and off the table, very awkward.
