We went a couple times during our visit. This is no longer dine-in, but they have a variety of items in retail and a few items for takeaway each day. Some items were a little overpriced compared to portions.
Everything we got there and have tried was good. We enjoyed the Cowboy Beans better than the Slaw. We found the slaw to be a bit dry. But the BBQ was the star. Really tasty, moist and not fatty. The take away goes quick so don’t wait around till the end of the day if you want to get some of their delicious BBQ.

We hired Tyler to cater the dinner for our son and daughter in law’s wedding. Tyler was very easy to work with as we planned the menu. On the day of the wedding Tyler arrived on time. He set up the buffet, served the food and did the cleanup. We did not have to do anything! We knew the food would be amazing. The brisket was delicious- very tender and moist , as was the chicken breast. The macaroni and cheese appeared to be the favorite side- approved by toddlers to seniors!
We received many compliments on the meal from our guests.
We highly recommend Tyler and the BBQ Smokehouse. You will not be disappointed if you hire them to cater your next event.

Excellent BBQ & beans, coleslaw wasn’t what I’m used to, but not terrible (I’m used to the sweeter kind). This is a rating for their take out daily special (tri-tip sandwich, coleslaw & beans). Although, their selection of other items looked intriguing, I only had a brief moment to look as my order was ready very quickly. Particularly their cheeses & beef sticks I’d go back to try. And they have a different special every day (M-F), and at a good price. Speaking of price, the price listed on their website needs to be updated, not a big deal but just an observation. And in the interest of clarification, this place isn’t a restaurant, no tables or dine in, as it’s mainly a meat market (excuse my terminology if that’s inaccurate). I recommend you check this place out!

Excellent home style meals daily , the ribs fall off the bone not to mention the yummy sauce and serving sizes , they also have dry aged meats that are to die for , and the demanded waygu steaks ! This will be my go to meat house or occasional lunch stop !

They have some ready to eat daily lunch specials. The sauce is a nice blend with lip smaking flavor. The meat is cooked so well, it’s tender and very flavorful. Then, if you get the adult employees to fill your order, they pike it ON (the younger staff are way more conservative in portions, but they NEVER skimp, so it’s plentiful).
In addition, they have frozen things one can make at home. Some items are bulk amounts and some are not. Best place to get delicious food! NOTE: when it’s warm weather, they have outdoor picnic table seating with a fabulous view of trains going to/from across the road (if one likes to see trains)…

This was a fabulous stop for lunch. Fast service, and high quality bbq! Had a smoked turkey sandwich with a rib on the side. Both were phenomenal, and I’m not usually a turkey guy. The cowboy beans and potato salad were also top notch. I highly recommend!

Great selection of meats and great prices! Super friendly staff! Everything is delicious! I’ve never gotten a cut that wasn’t tender. Their cowboy beans are aaaaamazing! They have a huge variety of sausages that makes me break out my grill during blizzards! Spicy, savory, sweet, they’ve got it all! Love this place! Honestly, I can’t say enough good things!

This place does a really nice job. Smokehouse and butcher shop. Lots of cut meat and prepared items for take home. Wadena is lucky to have this place.
All the meats were really good. Bbq sause was also very good. Get a sandwich because the buns are phenomenal. Beans were really good too.
Definitely give this place a try. You’re missing out if you don’t.
Note: they do have a couple picnic tables outside but it’s strictly takeout.
