I had the opportunity to take a night off and socialize with friends at On the Rocks Bar. First, the ambiance is quite nice! A relaxing, great space with both bar seating, a couple of sofas, and a private “bistro” corner (if one prefers a private conversation).
Food-wise, waitress Taryn recommended the string beans – and OMG, she was right about them being the best tasting string beans I’ve ever had! We also ordered the Mac and Cheese – tasty! Onion rings and Cauliflower bites – HUGE hunks of cauliflower covered in a spicy sauce with a dipping sauce on the. side. We had more than enough food for two, so Taryn boxed and bagged it (today’s lunch!)
Manny, the bartender, mixed a mean drink (the only one with rum in it), and that was quite tasty.
A talented guitar playing musician strummed in the corner, making this the perfect evening to catch up with old and new friends in a special space.

This is a difficult review to write. I came to this place to hear the incredible MADAME MACINTOSH perform, and have a drink and dinner.
Service, initially, was abysmal. We were not given the correct menus. We sat at a table for 20 minutes and no server ever showed up. We moved to the bar and for six songs (30 minutes) tried to get the bartenders attention…. with no success. Had Madame Macintoshes music not been so incredible, we would have left. I was literally ready to give up on ever getting a drink or dinner… when ALE finally noticed us and immediately brought some water. Then a guy named CARLOS asked if he could help. I told him I was super angry that we had been neglected for so long… and he immediately began giving us EXCELLENT service. He had drinks to us in minutes and a delicious chicken schnitzel before the drinks were done, wirh a second round in the way. I’m going to give the 5 stars because Ale, Carlos and Madame Macintosh really worked hard to make the evening magical…and it truly was. It is a beautiful, comfortable place and the vibe is lovely.. But I have never in my life felt so neglected by a bartender. I would recommend to anyone who goes here not to even bother trying to get the bartenders attention. He apparently is “too busy” to do his job.

Came here because I heard their Old Fashions was amazing. It did not disappoint! Cherry our bartender was amazing at her craft and her customer service was top notch! Definitely will come again!

This spot is easily in my top three favorite places to eat and drink in the Wasatch Back. I’ve been a regular for years, and while I’ve been sad to see some familiar faces go, the new crew is absolutely killing it. Carlos, Manny, and Ale are just as good, if not better, than their predecessors. The food has always been fantastic, the views are great, and these guys have truly mastered the Paper Plane cocktail—it’s my absolute favorite and they make a perfect one every time. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I visited On The Rocks a few days ago and i was very impressed. the food was so so good, they were playing live music that night which was fun, and the drinks were exceptional. as a bartender i could tell they put real craft into the cocktails and they have a great beer menu. i had the rooster red ale and the hibiscus margarita and both were awesome.
Kiriko and Taryyn were our servers and they were very attentive and friendly, and Manny and Josh behind the bar were super fun as well. all in all we had a great time and i’m definitely going back!
