Service was very poor and slow despite the restaurant being nearly empty. One of the staff members was loudly talking about customers negatively, in addition to expressing their displeasure at how few customers they had. The first employee to assist us was quite aggressive/surly. He was not welcoming, friendly, courteous, or helpful. Eventually another employee came to our table to take our order. Women’s restroom smelled strongly in an unpleasant manner…like sweet urinal cakes, lots of them. Once our appetizer finally arrived, which took about an hour for truffle fries, it was obvious it had sat under the warming lamp in the kitchen for an extended period of time. Additionally, the cheese served with the fries was over cooked-it was lumpy and had a dry skin on top. This is the same cheese used for their fondue appetizer, apparently.

It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon and we found this wonderful restaurant.
I didn’t get a picture of our first item, it was there chowder. It was great the base was very creamy in texture but it tasted lemony. We knew we were in for a fun afternoon!!

There are 3 little eateries in this hotel. They share the same menu for the most part. The Current is like the sports bar style of the 3. Swirl is the wine enthusiast spot. And I think it’s the Afton House Inn that’s like the fine dining area with a couple more entree options.

We found this great place on a motorcycle ride last year and had to come back. The turkey burger is the best I have EVER had! The apple slices and jam stuff they put on it is amazing! Tried to make my own and it wasn’t the same. Guess I’ll just have to keep Goin back. Lol

Our waitress Jill was so personable and helped us with our menu choices. Steak Diane, tables side and the Short ribs. Both amazing choices. Then Justin stepped in and prepared the steak and a Banana Foster dessert table side. Great guy and lots of fun. Wonderful evening at the Afton Inn fine dining room.

We stopped by for dinner on Tuesday the first at around 7pm. We were seated outside where almost all the other tables were filled with other guests. Our server got our drinks for us fast, which was nice. Once we placed an order for an appetizer it took 15 to 20 minutes to get our appetizer (the truffle fries, which are very good.) We spent another half hour waiting on our server before she came to take our orders for the main course. By this point all the other tables had been given boxes and paid, and most of the patrons in the restaurant had left. We spent half an hour waiting for our food, when there were only 2 of us and we ordered with no modifications. Finally our food came out, and when we asked for a box to put our appetizer in, our server left and never came back out. We spent another half an hour waiting for her to come back out with the box, and finally went inside to ask someone for the bill.
The food was alright, if a little bland and expensive, but high prices are expected for touristy main street places. The main issue was the fact that our server entirely forgot about us on 2 separate occasions, and we had to go inside to find someone to get us to pay. The lack of professionalism was extremely disappointing given the price point of the food. I would not recommend eating here unless you get seated inside, so that you aren’t forgotten about.

Lots of unique food items on the menu. Most of these items are close to something familiar to American diners, but with a little flair. Such as avocado cream cheese wantons with strawberry sauce, or Thai chicken flatbread (amongst an array of unique flatbread flavors), fondue platters, and sugary sweet sweet potato fries. A nice patio gives you views of Afton as well as the hillside on the Wisconsin side of the St Croix (great colors in late October).
Really cool interior decor sets a mood between classic moody tavern and modern energy.
The bathrooms have a shared sink, which has a pungent soap, which you can smell if you’re seated in one of the booths.

I came here for brunch. The service was great. Very friendly, and with helpful suggestions on food/drinks. The food is great and I’ve really enjoyed my time here. Lynn was more than courteous with helping myself and who I came with.

Idk. The food was OK, bloody Mary was pretty terrible. Too sweet and chunky, nice kick after but hard to choke down. Friendly staff for sure. I will come back to try some of their other food and update this if it’s any better.
