As a double gator and a frequent diner, I would NOT recommend this location for 3 reasons: poor sanitation (roaches, flies, etc. I would post a photo here but was forced to delete them), low quality food, and disheartening treatment of student employees.

As of 2024-2025, the plan price was raised by 15% and 80% of the meal swipes locations were cut.

Disappointingly, the boss lady often berates students workers in public. This is incredibly hurtful for their peers to see. This behavior is unacceptable at UF.

Florida Fresh Dining is NOT part of the University of Florida. Hopefully, one day, Gator Nation will have a dining hall deserving our academic excellence.

The lunch buffet at the Fresh Food Company in Broward Hall was a pleasant experience. I especially enjoyed the beef pasta and grilled chicken and broccoli. At $12 per person, it felt quite reasonable given the wide variety of options available—including pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads, rice, fruits, soft drinks, and desserts.

Based on the price, the food quality was relatively delicious. There were at least 3-4 options of entrees. You can always find a good pizza and a nice chicken burger. The fruits were very fresh. My favorite part is that they got organic soy milk here and several kinds of cereals.

Eating here is always a disappointment, even for “school food” and especially compared to the much superior gator corner dining center.

As a professor and Florida native, I was disappointed by Broward Dining. I saw roaches in the restroom, the food was subpar for the price, and many staff were either rude or on their phones. UF students deserve a cleaner, more respectful dining experience.

I honestly don’t know where the negative comments are from. First off they just opened in September of 2024. New everything. All older comments are not for this place but the place before. This is a buffet style, on campus dining hall. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star meal here but was pleasantly surprised. First it’s all you can eat buffet style for 10 and change, lunch and dinner and 2 bucks lower for breakfast. Items are chef prepared with various stations in a circle fashion with a fresh salad bar, rice bowl area, cereal bar and waffle area, juice area, desert, pizza and pasta, sandwiches and much more depending on the time of day. Best selection is dinner after 6 but a great selection mid day as well. Its open to the public but as it’s on campus parking is very limited. Is it Vegas quality buffet, no but its not supposed to be. For a student eatery it’s definitely a 10. Beats the hell out of what we had when I was in school. Great food, ruby the manager was super sweet, clean and well staffed. Great place and did I mention the price.. unbeatable at 10 bucks.

More than a week on since reopening and it is still an absolute mess. Half the stands closed, no plates, missing silverware, most drinks are out. Get it together UF.
Edit: 2 months on, it’s somehow devolved. Running out of food an hour before closing, still no cutlery/plates, quality worsening, running out of drinks, and one of the only reliable areas for food (the pasta stand) was converted into this asinine pseudo-chipotle where they recook already cooked pasta, resulting in 10 minute or more waits. To the proprietors of Broward dining hall: please compose yourselves.

Used to love this place until a staff come and tell me I am not supposed to grab “much” food because they need to feed other people. I am a cyclist and I train a lot, so I do need a lot of food to fuel me. This sounds like I didn’t pay for my meal. I guess I am not included in the group that they are supposed to feed. And I guess this place just doesn’t welcome people who eat “too much”. If you can’t provide the service you are supposed to provide, why not just stop running the business? Very disappointed.

Service is terrible and the food quality has gone down since they took over the contract for the campus. I’m not one to complain, but after a full semester of this, I’ve had enough. I won’t be eating on campus or using a meal plan anymore. This morning I couldn’t get anyone to even take my order because, once again, the kiosks were malfunctioning for campus cards. You know, the only way to pay using your meal plan. I stood there for 30 minutes trying to get the lady to help me as a line formed behind me. When she did acknowledge me, she rudely brushed me off. I didn’t even get to finish my sentence. That was the final straw. I’ve watched an employee in the dining hall knock a students plate out of their hands and not even bother to apologize or replace their food. They had to stand in the 30 minute line, again. I’ve had serving sizes cut in half because they didn’t bother to make more before the lunch rush. Supply and staffing issues have been rampant since day one. They even had entire stores in the union training the staff on the first day of semester lunch rush. I waited an hour and a half for one hamburger. Ketchup was an up charge. Their lack of planning and lack of care for students is ridiculous. Do not buy any of the meal plans or you’ll be stuck paying more per meal and stuck with staff that treat you like cattle if they don’t just flat out ignore you.

Broward Dining, or now Fresh Food Company is a great dining hall. The food is healthy and well prepared, the staff returns a friendly greeting, and the place is especially clean with COVID looming. However, with the recent COVID policy change, the portion sizes have decreased to an unsatisfactory amount of food. Everybody has different daily nutrition needs. I am a very active student and probably expend as many calories as the athletes on campus. The athletes on campus are treated to higher quality food, much more expensive food, in much higher quantities. On the flip side, tonight the meal served was a piece of fish, rice, and vegetables. Reportedly, according to the Gator Dining website totaling to less than 300 calories. AND I AM NOT ALLOWED TO GET SECONDS. I would prefer not to fill up on cookies and desserts. I would like to fill up on the meal served. Worse than this is the situation for my VEGAN and VEGETARIAN friends. In order to follow these diets one must eat large quantities as plant based food is low calorie.

I would like the policy to portion policy to change. Students should be able to eat till they are full. The meal plan is expensive and if we rely on the dining halls, we should be able to eat to satiation.
