SSS—also known as The Big Dog—is a bit dicey in the best way possible. If you’re into bars with character and a laid-back, unpretentious vibe, this place delivers.

The atmosphere is always lively, with plenty of TVs for catching the game and pool tables if you’re in the mood to play. They’ve also got Keno and TouchTunes, which adds to the fun.

The food is solid—especially the steak tips, which are seriously amazing. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the service is always on point. Shoutout to Cheena, Erin, Janelle, Amy, Jenny, Kayla, and Sarah—they’re all fantastic and help make the place feel welcoming.

Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to.

What is not to like about this place. Steak tips are so tender and very flavorful! Service, I felt like a regular. Not just the staff, but the patrons too. It felt like a place you belong. If you are in the area, you must give it a try!! And let me not forget the staff, wow. On top of everything. As an out of towner, they are awesome in the welcoming someone in to their place. Janelle who took care of me was so attentive and welcoming. Cheena backed her up without missing a beat. Both were so welcoming and as a person who is on the road a lot, that is the best!

I was disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. For some reason the bar smelled like old stale cigarettes. Maybe because the same ceiling tiles from when I was a kid in the 70s are still on the ceiling from the smoking indoors days. The bar tender was the worst I have experienced in a long time and I have traveled the world. She must be the owner, because no one would hire a person that had an attitude like hers. Very rude and no checking on customers. You have to go ask for something when you need it. The bathrooms still have the same 1960s/70s black asbestos mastick exposed on the floor. On a good note, the food was cooked perectly and pretty good.

This is my kind of place!! A locals only, no thrills dive bar with outstanding bar food and Keno! What else would you want? There is nothing pretentious about this place, and it’s welcoming to everyone. I would highly recommend this place, and I’ll also say this: the wings were excellent!

First: Janelle was extraordinary as a server. Second, you won’t find better steak, turkey, and chicken tips on north shore. And for under $2 a side salad that is almost a meal in itself. Hidden gem in NR.

Me and my boyfriend (disabled veteran) were having fun until bartender had to make a comment. He has a service animal (ADA certified) and a comment was made about her not having a vest on which is LEGALLY NOT REQUIRED. We were in the corner of a dead bar with few guest in the restaurant. This whole time the service animal was laying under our table, leashed and quite. It’s sad when a USA veterans can’t go somewhere with a medical service dog and have a meal and enjoy it without some comments being made. I am shocked by this and will never return.
The same bartender has made comments on how cute she is in the past with ZERO issue with her being there. I understand not everyone has a service dog but with someone with a disability this makes them feel unwanted and so judged. It’s sad a fun night had to turn into such an uncomfortable evening. Truthfully so shocked and sad we even paid after all that.
