RAIDED AUGUST 25, 1923 Step into a world of vintage allure, where history weaves its tales within the walls of our meticulously renovated building in downtown Glen Rose, Texas. Welcome to WhiskyWoods, a timeless homage to the Roaring Twenties and the legendary moonshine raid of 1923, when the Texas Rangers left their mark on this very ground. Today, WhiskyWoods pays tribute to this extraordinary chapter of our history, immortalizing the spirit of defiance that defined that era.

We selected Whiskey Woods Steak House to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my husband, our son and his date, and our granddaughter. Upon arrival, the restaurant was understandably busy, as several parties shared the same reservation time; however, both the staff and fellow guests handled the situation with patience and grace.
Once seated, our server, Cory, provided exceptional service from the start. He offered sincere apologies for the brief delays and graciously welcomed us with complimentary champagne, which was a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Our beverages were beautifully prepared, and our entrées were delivered at just the right time, shortly after we finished our appetizers.
Given the significance of the evening and the large crowd, we did not expect flawless service; nevertheless, the kitchen and staff performed seamlessly. Each dish was prepared to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed by our entire table.
We concluded the evening with coffee and dessert, which was a lovely and fitting end to an outstanding dining experience. We are delighted to have discovered a new favorite and look forward to returning to explore the brunch menu. Whiskey Woods Steak House is truly worth the drive.

The overall experience here was amazing! The food was absolutely incredible and the staff is very attentive. We ordered the Doneathose quail and Ribeye steak. It was cooked to perfection, the knife slid through the steak like butter! The restaurant ambiance is great, comfortable. We will be back!

Lovely steakhouse with a nice and quiet ambiance
The staff was welcoming and attentive. They gave us a free dessert for my boyfriend’s birthday which was nice
We ordered the bacon wrapped quail and toasted garlic butter bread for appetizers, both of which were absolutely delicious
We got turkey and pork chops for the main dish…the meats were juicy and cooked to perfection
I would love to try other menu items if I visit Glen Rose again, hopefully soon

Came here for lunch on a Saturday and returned on Sunday for brunch.
We ate in the bar area both times. The atmosphere was beautiful and the service was hands down the best. Randy was our waiter and also the bar tender. His service was outstanding. Very attentive, but always at the perfect time. He offered drink suggestions and got it right every time.
The food was delicious. The brussel sprouts were amazing. I’m always a fan of Brussels sprouts but these were exceptionally flavored and cooked. Even my mother, who would never eat them, tried and liked them. Brunch was so good! I had the bananas foster French toast bake and did not regret that decision. GET THE BACON! They know how to cook bacon- it was so good. And the coffee…. Amazing! The mimosas are a must.
Overall there was nothing disappointing about this place. Every detail- down to the hand towels in the bathroom- is well thought out and deliberate. We have no real reason to come back to visit Glen Rose in the future but you better believe I’m gonna be finding one, just to have another meal here.

We were looking for a fine dining experience to celebrate my husband’s birthday, but didn’t want to go into Fort Worth. I was initially surprised to hear about WhiskeyWoods when I saw it was in Glen Rose, but the picture of the restaurant and food looked great. There are different menus depending on if you sit in the dining room vs. the bar area, but I was told there are regular tables available in the bar area as well. We chose the dining room. Our server was wonderful; I felt like he was reading my mind! Every time I’d decide on an item, he’d come over to the table and recommend that same item, so I had confidence in my decision. The food was wonderful. It’s a bit pricey, but we had an appetizer, two half salads, entrees, drinks, and dessert. It’s a nice place to go out for a big celebration

Great cocktails and food in a relaxed yet stylish spot. The bartender is very good and knowledgeable. The bar has a good selection. Food wise, the quail wrapped in bacon is fantastic. Must try. The raw oysters may not be in the regular menu, but the chef was kind to us and served us raw oysters.

Great entrees, drinks and desert. Seafood gumbo was the best we’ve had in Texas!! We lived in New Orleans for years, so we know good gumbo! The entrees ( beef filet and scallops) were excellent and the servers were wonderful. This was our first visit, but won’t be our last! A real gem in Glen Rose. Go see for yourself!

We reserved a table and when we went to check in for the reservation we were told our table had been taken by a party that just walked in a sat down without asking. Not sure why they weren’t asked to get up, but they offered us a free drink from the bar to wait for an open table. We were sat in the bar instead of the dining area which was very loud and we could not converse without yelling. The waiter took our order quickly only to come back 30 minutes early to say he forgot to put in our order and could not remember what we wanted. The food was cold when we finaly received it but still edible. We rarely saw the waiter after that and would only come to the table and refill one guests water and leave. I spoke with the manager about the service and she only attempted to make exuses that he was split from the bar to the dining area and was doing the best he could. We had to flag other servers down for water, drinks and deserts. This was a one and done for me on dinner. The price to service ratio is off. When I pay for the amount you charge, my expectations is to have an overall exceptional experience and not mediocre service and cold food.

Honestly, I was so excited to try this place after hearing many rave reviews. However, my husband, myself, and our friend ate there tonight and I could not have been more disappointed. All of our food was well under par. The service was awful. We spent a total of 2 hours for what should’ve been an hour at most … ribeye- tough and no flavor … scallops- blah … sea bass- way over cooked and potatoes under cooked … will not be back. In case you’re wondering date and time – 2/7/26 – reservations at 1830 , we got there a little early and left around 2010 … the super tall server didn’t tell us any specials , and there was a distinct difference in the other server around us. The other servers food and drinks were coming out much quicker and he was much more attentive… he also explained the menu. For Glen Rose – I guess it’s ok.
To reply to your comment about the amount spent. – we had two appetizers , three cocktails, scallops and the sea bass. Our total was $178 for two people BEFORE TIP … so you do the math! The google review asks “how much did you spend per person” not how much is each entree … I’m not sure what your comment of none of your meals not being over $60 means. It still wasn’t good. You have the ability to look up our tab based on name and time so go for it. Saying it was OK was being generous.
