[ ] Bread pudding with rum sauce- dense and moist. Topped with sugar which I could’ve done without. Most of the flavor comes from the rum sauce. Good, and would get again, better than others, but not a top 3
[ ] Strawberry rhubarb pie – Whitney really enjoyed. I had a bite. Quite delicious
[ ] Oreo milkshake for me/ Oreo and caramel for Whitney – thick, delicious, with plenty of cookie mix ins. Generous portions. Would absolutely get again.

We were headed to Bates SP for a picnic but it was closed still. So we stopped at Austin and was glad that we did. Great service, nice people. BLT was jam packed with Bacon and the Grilled Cheese had nice gooey cheddar. Definitely worth the stop

Always have had delicious food. The pies are the best! We normally are a “to go” order due to usually coming thru with tow trucks, but the owners are lovely people.

After a long days drive we were looking for a place to eat. Google led us to the Austin House. It was literally out in the middle of nowhere!
Inside is a little store with just about anything you would need. Lots of gifts! A nice selection of huckleberry gifts too. There was an ice cream and pastry case.
Around the corner in the cafe there is a beautiful bar from 1864. It is stunning! The place was very clean.
The owner (I think Christy) was manning the store and waitressing. Her husband was cooking. The food was delicious! Very quick too!
We grabbed one of Christy’s homemade blackberry cobblers to bring home. Yum!
Christy was top notch! She has a sense of humor and quick wit, which we loved! We enjoyed our stop here.
We will definitely stop again when we are in the area!

So greatful a coworker invited me out to dinner this evening. It was my first visit here, I will be back. It was schnitzel, spaetzle and cabbage for dinner…outstanding home cooked meal. I had my first ever pie of huckleberry pie…the pies are so perfectly crafted they do not even look real. The staff are helpful and friendly. Thank you for a great dinner.

“Ma” Austin founded this rest stop/restaurant in the early 1900’s during the heyday of the railroad logging years. She served trout, venison, and delicious pies. The current owners are equally gracious although the menu has changed. Anyone who travels Hwy 26 through here should definitely make this rest stop. The huckleberry ice cream floats are fantastic!

This place is so quaint. We didn’t eat any burgers or sandwiches but we did have the homemade BlackBerry cobbler. It was delicious and we added some vanilla ice cream which made it fabulous. Austin house has been around for many many years. The bar inside was made in Chicago and was shipped to Oregon. The bar is made from mahogany and is beautiful condition. Fun place to stop and have a bite to eat and learn a little history.
