If you’re craving authentic Thai comfort food that tastes just like home, Kub Kao is the place that truly surprised me in the best way. Every dish feels like it was made with real care, real ingredients, and real Thai soul. Here are the highlights from my visit—each one so good that I couldn’t stop thinking about it afterward.
Som Tum (Papaya Salad)
This dish immediately reminded me of Thailand. The restaurant uses fresh, crisp green papaya—the real key to authentic som tum—and you can taste that freshness in every bite. The flavors are perfectly balanced: spicy, tangy, slightly sweet, and deeply savory. It genuinely felt like I was sitting at a street-side stall in Thailand again. So simple, yet so honestly delicious.
Khao Soi Duck
This was the star of the meal and honestly one of the best versions I’ve had in the U.S. The flavor is unbelievably close to what you’d find in Northern Thailand—rich curry broth, fragrant spices, and that signature depth you can’t find anywhere else.
The duck was tender, the noodles cooked just right, and when you mix in the pickled mustard greens, red onions, a squeeze of lime, and the chili oil they provide…
it becomes a perfect bowl.
I’ve tried khao soi at many places across the U.S., and this is the one that tastes exactly like the original. If you love Thai food, this dish alone is worth the trip.
Hainanese Chicken Rice (Khao Mun Gai — Steamed Chicken)
Normally the restaurant serves both steamed and fried chicken together, but I asked for all steamed chicken, and they kindly customized it for me. The chicken was soft, tender, and flavorful.
What really makes it shine is their tao jeow with minted ginger dipping sauce—savory, aromatic, and full of Thai character. Together with the chicken, it becomes a clean, comforting, and surprisingly healthy dish that I would absolutely order again.

Overall Thoughts
Kub Kao delivers the kind of food that brings you back to Thailand—not fancy, but real. The flavors are honest and beautifully done, the ingredients are fresh, and the cooking stays true to traditional Thai roots.
If you miss home, or simply want Thai food that tastes exactly the way it should, this place won’t disappoint.
And the service?
Everyone is friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm.
They take care of you like family. ❤️
10/10 food, 10/10 vibes.
Absolutely worth going! ✨ ️
Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back. ✨
My husband loved it!!!
First time dining in and everything was great, clean atmosphere and friendly service.
Parking in the lot behind the building. Free after 6pm.
Get the papaya salad.
Pad Thai was on the sweeter side.
Drunken noodles and pad see ew were great.
Panang curry was a bit salty and the mango sticky rice dessert was super sweet.
$100 (with tip) for 4 people, 4 entrees, 1 app and 1 dessert.
I have gone for lunch and dinner with many different friends as well as my husband.
I love the mixed appetizer platter, the green papaya salad is refreshing and just spicy enough! I’ve tried several curries, all delicious, my husband loves the short rib and we all enjoyed the seafood drunken noodles. We don’t usually have dessert but did try the ginger crème brulée one time- yummy! It’s become a real favorite for us
I ordered the Tom Yum Noodle Soup for lunch. Although they forgot the noodles, I added some rice. Delicious! Hot every way hot can be!
I ordered the Pad Basil for dinner. Spicy and delicious!
I’ve never been disappointed.
