I met Big Swerve himself, a very humble and friendly guy with a big heart! He showed me a brisket that he was smoking at the moment…..OMG! Just the aroma alone had my mouth watering! I ordered the jerk chicken sliders (I chose collard greens and mean beans as my sides). I will say this….those 2 chicken breast sliders were the juiciest and best tasting grilled chicken I ever had in my life!! My pic only shows one slider because I tasted the first one and I couldn’t stop from devouring all of it! That sauce will have your tongue dancing in your mouth all day! I live in Philadelphia and I will take that trip across the bridge every week just to grab all that good food! Everything on the menu is EXCELLENT! Its also very spacious….tailgating anyone? Not a problem! ❤️

Finally made it to Big Swerve’s BBQ and let me tell youuuu what! The hype is real and the food didn’t last long enough to take a picture!! I had no idea what I was missing out on. There’s even a really nice banquet hall attached where they have comedy shows. Use your GPS to the side alley that leads you into his parking lot. The ordering process is easy and they call your phone when your order is ready. There’s even a brewery right next door. You can’t get better than that.

This place is worth the toll! I live in Delaware not far over the bridge and a friend recommended my husband and I try Big Swerve’s and I have no regrets. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork tacos, ribs, mac and cheese, corn bread and mean beans. Let me tell you everything was fantastic! You can taste the love. My favorite item was the mean beans.

We ordered meanie weenies, brisket tacos & slider sampler & corn bread. We were blown away. Delicious is an understatement. The Jerked chicken was so good & tender. The smoke on the brisket was on point. The mean beans were tasty. If you like corn bread like we do you will not be let down. Lots of love went into preparing those meats. We’ll be going back for sure!

I was not disappointed with a single thing. The cornbread might be the best cornbread I have ever eaten. I did the 3 meats, 3 sides, and corn bread and I definitely got my moneys worth! This thing will be multiple meals for 1 or great for 2-3 people to split depending on appetite. I got the banana pudding for dessert, that is a little pricey for the presentation (was hoping for a whipped cream topped situation with maybe Nila wafers or chessman cookies or something) but the taste was good and to me that is what matters the most! Everything was 10/10. I will say the Mac and cheese is a baked Mac and cheese so it is on the dryer side (as one should expect) so if that’s what your preference is, you will not be disappointed. I drizzled the BBQ sauce on mine and it was perfection! I ordered on their site for pick up and it was seamless, the order was ready early, and the cashier was very polite when I went to pick up. This place is popular. I noticed some reviews mentioning a long wait or paused orders, this is a family owned small business that is constantly growing in popularity, just know the wait will be worth it!

We stopped here after the movies based off of the reviews. The woman who waited on me was nice. I gave the brownie cup a try, it definitely was way smaller than I expected for almost $6. It was brownie crumbles, what tasted like Hershey syrup and jello pudding . We waited 10/15 minutes for food which isn’t bad. We get to the car, I opened the first container to cold dry Mac, beans that reminded me of canned beans but with meat and undercooked onions added. The ribs were soooo tough, brisket was dry. My husband got the chicken platter which was $18 for a leg quarter. Same dry Mac ,yams were really sweet no other flavor but sweet. We got cornbread which was bone dry. The greens were inedible due to the salt. And honestly really small for $6 as was the pasta salad, which had overcooked pasta. Definitely a waste of gas and money.

The atmosphere was Poppin’!!
They had a DJ outside, a Cigar Bar, tents and tables set up.
It was not a long line, but people were ordering and waiting.
We ordered the Brisket sliders w Mac n Cheese, and the Brisket Burger w sides of Mac n Cheese, and Mean Beans.
After ordering, we sat in the truck to wait.
After a few minutes, one of the ladies brought the food out to us, invited us to sit and enjoy the music, have a cigar. Unfortunately, we were not able to do that, so we brought the food home.
Two things: 1st was No utensils to eat, if we had stayed.
2nd was there was barely any sauce on anything.
The food was cooked to perfection, but the lack of sauce made it dry. I asked for spicy sauce on my Brisket burger, but I didn’t taste any. I was honestly about to put some ketchup on it… The Mac n Cheese could have used little seasoning, but it was still hittin’! The Mean Beans were the best part of the meal for me!
We did eat everything, despite the lack of sauce.
We’d definitely give them another try!

Big Swerve’s BBQ has helped me get over my reviewer’s block. The food in South and Central Jersey is so plain and indistinct that I couldn’t find a way to speak about it. This restaurant has broken the curse!
I went to their location in Westville NJ and got a combo jerk chicken and brisket plate. The jerk chicken was seasoned and grilled expertly. It exceeded the quality of some Jamaican restaurants’ jerk chicken. It had a tasty BBQ sauce to accompany it, but it didn’t need it at all in my mind. The brisket was moist and flavorful with a beautiful smoke ring. The part that got me is that the sides (potato salad, collard greens and corn bread) were on the level of the proteins. All of the food was delicious with a distinctive taste that was their calling card. This is how food should be- especially soul food. Go and check them out for yourself.
p.s.- I’ve done something that rarely happens. I used restraint and took pictures before eating!

I spent $42 on the Lil Dip and got a Lil food! A handful of pulled pork, 3 slices of brisket that were fatty and 3 ribs, 3!!! I got 3 extra lil sides that were about 4 fork full each and paid $3 for a lil piece of cornbread. I see why they call it Lil Dip!!! This was my 3rd a final visit, the food is good but NOT for the price compared to other BBQ joints!
