Trevi might want to decide what kind of restaurant it’s trying to be — because the experience swings wildly between “pleasant lunch spot” and “dinner disaster.” Our lunch there not long ago was pretty good: solid menu (very different from the dinner one, as we discovered), attentive service, and quality food. Naturally, I expected the same for dinner. Unfortunately, it was the complete opposite.
This was a rainy Sunday evening around 6 p.m., and we were literally the only diners there — hardly a rush, yet everything still managed to go wrong. I ordered what should have been a simple, fresh arugula salad with chicken. For the hefty price tag, I expected at least a decent portion and some semblance of care. What arrived was a sad pile of dry arugula topped with a paper-thin, chewy piece of chicken and what tasted like a squirt of lemon juice out of a plastic pack from a fast food place. Beside the poor lemon attempt, the entire dish was undressed — and when I asked for dressing, I was brought a tiny container… only to later find it added as a separate charge on the bill. That’s right — they charged extra for salad dressing on a salad.
To add insult to injury, the “amount” of arugula in my salad was barely more than the decorative greens served under the appetizers. And while the waitress managed to interrupt our conversation multiple times with irrelevant chatter, we somehow had to flag her down repeatedly just to get our waters refilled.
And let’s be honest — there is nothing remotely Mediterranean about this place. Throwing hummus or tzatziki on a menu does not make it Mediterranean; it just makes it confused.
Overall, the dinner experience was overpriced, poorly executed, and handled with a stunning lack of attention or professionalism. A restaurant that can serve a decent lunch but completely implode at dinner isn’t one I’ll be returning to.
Trevi may look the part of a Mediterranean restaurant, but the only thing truly authentic about my visit was the bitter taste it left behind.
Her salmon was good but the sides weren’t anything she could recognize.
We ordered some appetizers, Crispy Crushed Potatoes, and Tzatziki to share. I had high expectation for the potatoes, simply because they looked great! And they did not disappoint. It tasted as amazing as I’d hoped! And Tzatziki was great too.
For main, we ordered Salmon, Trevi Burger, and Braised Short Ribs. They were all tasty, we were very happy with our food. The Short Rib was delicious, and Burger was super juicy!!!
With everything going so well, we decided to push our luck with desserts. We ordered Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Cheesecake. They were out of their regular chocolate chip cookie, so they asked if we are ok with their chocolate cookies. It was like double chocolate cookies, since it was chocolate cookies with chocolate chips in them. We added Vanilla Gelato for additional $2. It was sweet, as you can imagine, great for chocolate or brownie lovers. Cheesecake had pretty layers, rich, creamy, and very tasty!
We had a nice dining experience here, the staffs were polite, friendly, and efficient. At the end, manager came by to see if everything was ok, which I always appreciate the extra effort and consideration. The food was great from the first bite to the end. And we did not feel crowded at any point during our dinner, which was extra plus. If you are in the area and looking for a tasty meal, give Trevi Cafe and Wine Bar a chance!
