Myself and a group of friends have been coming here fairly regularly for trivia on Thursday nights. The food and atmosphere have always been good, but every time we come there’s only one server on, so service is always very slow. Unfortunately it got to the point we started coming out less often because of that.
We only ever see 1 server working, and it gets considerably busy during trivia. I wish they could add a second server to help out.

Stopped in for lunch after a funeral service the other day. They were not expecting a group of 12 for lunch. Jose was great! He took care of us in great time! The final bill wasn’t bad either, of course some just had cocktails, or this huge slice of chocolate cake, or the lunch pizza and salad special. A couple of us had different pastas. All very good. Wanted to thank Jose for taking care of us, being such a big group, with no reservations! You made a hard day for us much easier!

This restaurant is located in a Holiday Inn. It’s an old business which has grown up in the Twin Cities and has been very successful over the years. I expected to enjoy old classics on the menu. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The booths and chairs were uncomfortable. I did like the large TV screen showing the news. I thought the menu had a lot of good choices. I asked to have a bowl with grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, corn, beans, rice, and several other tasty items. I asked the waiter if they could leave out the jalapeños and he said yes. When it came, the jalapeños were definitely part of it, and it was too spicy for me. None of our food was very tasty. Even the pizza seemed light on toppings and cheese. We will not go back.

After a poor experience, Jose the manager wanted to make things right so I gave them another chance. The mozzarella sticks were really good. The salad was very fresh and delicious! The burger was one of the best I have ever had! Definitely in my top 5. The chocolate cake was a dark chocolate fans dream. It pairs well with milk and is silky smooth. I look forward to coming back again. Thank you for making things right Jose.

Food was great, service could have been better. Visited at 8pm on a Sunday and service was very slow with only one other table occupied. The waiter was very soft spoken and I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. Table was also very sticky but I think because it needs to be refinished, not because it wasn’t wiped.

The Sicilian specialty deep dish pizza was really good, except the crust edges could use a brushing of garlic butter to make it flakier and butterier. The Ellsworth cheese curds were not good at all. Cornmeal breading, not cooked enough, and tasted like fish sticks. Service was incredibly slow, even though we were the only ones here when we got here, we had to wait nearly 30 minutes for our side salad and cheese curds.

I might be biased, because Green Mill is my favorite restaurant. I travel from Iowa to Minnesota occasionally and always try to stop at a Green Mill location. This particular location was fairly slow, but it was a Monday. Staff was incredibly friendly. Nelson was our waiter and he was terrific. Food was hot and delicious. Wait was typical for a made to order restaurant. We ordered the Garlic Cheese Bread and the Il Primo. DELICIOUS!! Hot and cheesy! Crust was perfectly cooked. Bathrooms smelt great and they were very clean! Definitely one of the best experiences I have had at a Green Mill!

I recently visited Green Mill tonight on 10/7/2025 and had an initially exciting experience winning a significant amount on a pull tab. However, my interaction with the woman behind the counter I will not name, when cashing out left me surprised.
After winning, I approached the desk to claim my prize. The staff member then provided the cash as to be expected. And as a gesture of gratitude, I offered a tip, which I believed was reasonable. To my surprise, the staff member took the gratuity and then commented that the tip I left was “almost insulting,” directly to my face, then put the cash I gave her on the counter returning it back to me. I found this very unprofessional and it really annoyed me seeing how much I support this business by purchasing food consistently for years and having this whole interaction unfold as I’m having a celebration with family the same night at your restaurant really left me speechless. It is a tip and it should not be expected. This remark soured what should have been a positive moment-and night which made me feel undervalued as a customer.
While I understand tipping is discretionary, such a comment was unnecessary and created an uncomfortable and definitely unforgettable experience. I hope the management addresses this to ensure staff interactions remain respectful and professional. I’m hesitant to return unless improvements are made in how customers are treated during these interactions. If I could give zero stars I would! There’s no way a professional cooked this food! NO WAY!! No flavor or seasoning what so ever! So bland, it was horrible! I really wanted to go to the kitchen and see for myself who was back there! I had to put a lot of salt and pepper on my plates to at least try to enjoy it since I was hungry! I’m pretty sure green mill will be going bankrupt soon. It was a ghost town when I went and it’s probably because of the food quality! Whoever the manager of this is, needs to speak to the CEO of the company! This was horrible! So many updates are needed for the menu and the overall appearance and service as well! I really wanted to make a TikTok for everything but I know I’d go viral and I don’t want to be the reason for a place to go out of business. A review will be just fine on google! I have some ideas for the GREEN MILL HEAD QUARTERS! this company needs a face lift
