So decided to give this place a try since its local and ordered through grubhub and honestly its a mixed bag. The chicken and coleslaw tasted fine but the bread was Rock solid. Super stale and difficult to eat. Essentially ripping it apart with my mouth instead of just eating it. The loaded fries were soggy and not that good to be honest. It had that texture of being microwaved to heat back up. Ill try again in the future and hopefully it’ll be improved.

A Hidden Culinary Gem in Greenville, NC**

Nestled in the revitalized arts district of Greenville, *Strange Bird* at 718 Dickinson Avenue has emerged as a standout destination for breakfast enthusiasts and culinary adventurers alike. This unassuming yet artfully styled eatery punches well above its weight in flavor and creativity—especially when it comes to its custom egg dishes and curated coffee offerings.

### The Dish: Custom-Made Eggs with Sausage

At *Strange Bird*, the eggs are anything but ordinary. Talk to Amber she’ll guide you through their entire menu. Prepared to order, they strike a balance between comfort food and chef-driven technique. Whether you prefer them soft scrambled, over-easy, or folded into a delicate omelet, the eggs arrive silky and perfectly seasoned.

The house sausage deserves special mention. Rather than opting for generic patties or links, *Strange Bird* crafts a deeply flavorful, slightly smoky sausage that hints at fennel and black pepper, with a rustic texture that shows off its hand-formed origin. The combination of expertly prepared eggs and artisanal sausage turns a simple breakfast into something you’ll return for again and again.

### The Coffee: Robust, Imported, and Thoughtfully Brewed

Coffee aficionados will appreciate that *Strange Bird* takes its beans seriously. Their imported selections are roasted with nuance, showcasing bold, earthy flavors that still allow for subtler floral and citrus notes to peek through. Brewed strong, yet never bitter, the coffee here pairs seamlessly with a hearty breakfast and offers enough complexity to enjoy solo.

What elevates the experience is the staff’s knowledge and passion for sourcing, grinding, and brewing. Whether served as a French press, pour-over, or a perfectly balanced espresso shot, the attention to detail is palpable.

### Atmosphere & Service

The ambiance is intimate and inviting, with decor that leans eclectic without being kitschy—think mid-century warmth meets indie cafe charm. Service is attentive and friendly, with staff eager to customize and guide diners through their menu. Despite its growing popularity, *Strange Bird* maintains a relaxed, almost communal vibe that encourages lingering.

### Final Verdict

*Strange Bird* is more than just a breakfast spot—it’s a testament to what happens when traditional staples are approached with craftsmanship and flair. Their custom-made eggs with sausage are among the best in Greenville, and the coffee rivals anything you’d find in a big-city roastery. For locals and visitors alike, this spot is well worth the detour.

**Rating: 5.0/5.0 – A top-tier breakfast experience with genuine character.**

Terrible. I ordered the chicken and waffles, it was a frozen chicken breast and a pre made waffle. I also ordered the Thicc Chicc sandwich and it was Mid at best . Definitely disappointing

Stunned by how big this chicken sandwich was. As of 11/25 a Deluxe McCrispy with bacon costs 8.38 at McDonald’s and this Garden Bird sandwich from Strangebird was 8.99. It tasted a million times better and I couldn’t even finish it it was so huge. There is no reason to buy fast food with local restaurants like this nearby. Thanks for the yummy lunch

My kids and I happened upon Strange Bird this morning and stopped in to grab a coffee. Ended up getting two of their specialty coffees and a strawberry lemonade, all were excellent. Everyone grabbed a waffle and they were perfect! The guy working was so sweet and very fast getting our order out. We will definitely be going back, what an unexpected and pleasant experience. Thank you!

I have been getting smashed waffles for years now, even after the company changed to “StrangeBird”. Today afternoon, I ordered my usual & the batter is completely dry, crusty & plain. I can barely put my fork and knife into the waffle. I got the Chip-Chip Hurray & all I taste is stale plain batter, that’s extremely hard to chew. I noticed there was a different employee working, a white lady, so I’m not sure if she doesn’t know the recipe or did something wrong. It just feels like a waste of my money to eat dry, crusty, batter.

I ordered thru GrubHub. I only received half of my order, the driver, Jason, said that was all he was given. The main issue I had was the sandwich wasn’t even in a bag or anything sealed. I wouldn’t eat it for fear of what was in it or happened to it. Also the chicken sandwich bun was hard as a rock. I smelled good but I didn’t get a chance to taste it 🙁
