I went to try Capitano for the first time last night and it was AMAZING! I would always drive past it and I would always be in awe on how beautiful it looked on the outside! I finally decided to go and it was so beautiful and the food was sooooo delicious. The staff were so nice and welcoming as well, even the other guests communicate with one another. It really felt warming. I had the wedge salad, the caramel espresso martini, and the fettuccine with chicken and broccoli! The food is a little bit on the pricier side but I can say they REALLY give you lots of food an it’s really good and fresh so to me it was worth every penny! Please try it for yourself!

Listen—this restaurant is fabulous. I was upstate NY for a visit and craving something similar to Cast Iron in New Haven (if you know, you know). Capitano’s came highly suggested, so we went for it.

We pulled into the parking lot and it was empty—turns out they open at 4 p.m., and we arrived right on time. The exterior alone is stunning. The landscaping and waterfront views must be absolutely breathtaking in the summertime. Inside, the vibe was clean and classy—nothing over the top. Simple tables, crisp white tablecloths, and a beautiful bar right as you walk in.

The menu? That’s what I came for. So many options, it was hard to choose. We went on a Monday and found out they have $1 wings—who knew?! Our waitress, Alexis, was phenomenal. She knew every special, was incredibly personable, and honestly made the experience even better.

She recommended the wings with the special sauce, which is a combination of all the sauces—specifically country sweet and garlic parmesan. HOLY SMOKES. Never in my life would I have thought to marry those two flavors, but they should absolutely never divorce.

For my entrée, I ordered the NY strip and added lobster. I fully expected the tiny, overpriced lobster tail most restaurants try to get away with—shiiiiiiiiiiid, not here. The portion was generous, and the photos and videos truly do this dish (and others) no justice. The plating was immaculate.

And get this—according to Alexis, the chef was working solo that day. Huge compliments to the chef, because not a single dish lacked flavor or presentation, despite a busy shift. That alone deserves recognition.

I was beyond impressed. I can’t rave enough about Capitano’s—please go experience it for yourself. I truly hope you’re not disappointed, because this place delivered on every level.

What a great first experience. This was recommended for my birthday dinner and it exceeded my expectations. We were greeted upon entry and sat immediately. Chris was our server and was so patient with us, shared the specials and gave us great recommendations. Chris also was super accommodating to making an alteration to one of our meals. The portion sizes are insane and enough for 3 meals. Plus the food is so fresh and delicious. Trust me, I work in the service industry and this restaurant deserves more than 4.3 ⭐️

I have mixed reviews on service and food. When we walked in, the waitress said, “If you want a table it’ll be a few minutes, else you can go to the bar.”. That’s was weird, because there were only 4 tables filled in entire place!! The bartender was great, Erin (I believe). She was attentive, welcoming and personable. We had oysters off the happy hour menu ($1 for PEI, yay!!!) and a cocktail. Then we switched to a table. The same waitress that was a little short when we walked in was our waitress. She was very friendly and offered great tips on the food. The lobster bisque was a hit! I never had so much lobster in a bisque in my life and I loved it all. The brined oven baked chicken wings were awful. They were bone dry and zero flavor. The crispy lemon salmon was also dry and had no lemon flavor at all! My husband loved the veal chop! There was way too much mashed potato on both of those entrees, kind of overkill. Yes, I would go back again, for the lobster bisque and cocktails. Also will try a couple other appetizers, excluding the dry brined oven baked wings!!

The food is delicious. The seafood deviled pasta was fantastic. Hot bread, a good choice of beer, and great service. They have a beautiful view. Reservations are recommended. Surprisingly, the food is moderately priced for a seemingly upscale restaurant. Portions are huge.

We made reservations and got in fairly quickly. The service was fairly slow, it was about 30 minutes to get our salads which were very heavy on the red spinach and not enough dressing for how big the salad is. It was then about an hour from sit down that the main dishes came out which were fairly simple with 3 being pasta and the other being seafood mac and cheese. They had mixed up the pasta for one order and the Mac and cheese could have used a bit more seafood for the price point. The food was delicious but carve out a large chunk of time as they seem in no rush to deliver food quickly. With so many places already having occupied this location it seems doomed to continue the rotation if efficiency is not employed.

The outside of the building is beautiful and the location is perfect… too bad the rest of it doesn’t add up… I went there to celebrate my 50th birthday. We had balloons and a cake, gifts, flowers. There was no way that someone didn’t know what was going on at our table. When I arrived instead of being taken to my table by the hostess , I was simply told where to go and how to get there. Our server needed to be trained… she had a bad attitude , and she ignored our table because when we wanted something we had to get her attention instead of her coming over and asking us if there was anything she could do for us. Like, take our drink order or did we want appetizers? I was a server before and when you see someone who has an elaborate decked out table for their birthday. You should be so much better of a server. The attention should be overwhelming almost that is received by the staff. It has been that way every time I have celebrated my birthday at every other restaurant I have gone to , but not this one… and this birthday was a HUGE ONE!! I decided to try an espresso martini it was a special on the menu. Nope, don’t do it it Was terrible… so I ordered my old faithful a cosmopolitan simple drink not too difficult. I ordered Gray goose in it so I upgraded it. The bartender clearly didn’t know what they were doing. Not only my drinks but the rest of the tables drinks as well. Just not good. So bad service bad drinks so far… how the food? Well… Nothing to write home about. I would rather go somewhere else. There are so many restaurants in Rochester. We are a foodie town, and they better get it together or they’re not going to last much longer. The only reason to go there is the summertime and the view… beyond that they need a lot of help. I know they opened not that long ago , but someone’s gotta tell them… this was for again my 50th birthday. I wish I’d chose a different restaurant but I had been wanting to go there. So when we finish dinner, we obviously wanted to cut my cake. But guess what they wouldn’t allow us to cut my cake, they wouldn’t give us plates, they wouldn’t do anything. This is the first time I have ever experienced this in my entire life, they wanted the receipt for the cake before we were able to cut it. Who brings that?! I was so upset and the level of disappointment is beyond. This was a big, huge birthday for me and the whole experience at this restaurant was just a disappointment a Shameful fiasco, right from the start and then not being able to cut my cake for my birthday Was heartbreaking.

Wow!!!! Tiffany was absolutely spectacular, just the right level of attentiveness you’d want when having a meal. She was prompt and genuinely pleasant. She gave great insight to menu items when asked. And checked in with the chef when I had a question about ingredients in something.

Was our first time dining here and was not disappointed in anything we had. The portions are spectacular for the prices. And the quality is on point. There are any other things I want to try and will be back again.

Food was excellent with massive portions. The kitchen is doing an outstanding job and would recommend to anyone. Great to have a vegetarian lasagna available, as that is rare to find. Seated near the bar and it was quite loud, as expected. Will be back to try it at a non-high top for sure. Best meal we’ve had in the region in a long time.
