I was puzzled remembering where it was at on Google Maps as opposed to clicking on “Directions” while driving. After pulling into the plaza, at first I couldn’t find until after passing Jewel and barely seeing it in the elbow of the strip mall.
Upon entering, noticed the dining space was small but kept clean and the service was friendly and welcoming. As for the pizza……..the taste is out-of-this-world and much better than expected.
To put it another way, their deep dish is better than Chicago’s big 3: Gino’s East, Giordano’s and Lou Malnati’s which is definitely saying something.
Everything was wonderful here, in other words a flawless experience aside from our boys and our friends’ kids being a bit loud. Prices seem fair despite the unnecessary inflation and minimum wage hike.
Understandably there’s 2 locations but this gem is a hole-in-the-wall find. I live pretty far north in Beach Park in Lake County but more than likely will be in the area again at some point in the year so another visit is a definite must. Wish for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s).
We didn’t even sit down, yet the customer service was terrible. We waited 30 minutes for a Margherita pizza, which is just tomato sauce and mozzarella. When I asked why it was taking so long, their reaction unprofessional.
I was the only customer in the store. There are many good pizza places nearby where you can get two pizzas with drinks, better quality, and no weird attitude or racist staring.
We ordered a thin crust 1/2 roasted veggie 1/2 Da Vinci. Let me tell you, the crust was actually thin and crispy. And the crunch on the outer edge of the crust, mind blowing! Most Rockford pizza’s crusts are dense and chewy. I wish we had a place that served pizza with crust like this. We thought the roasted veggie side could have used the salt savor of some Parmesano reggiano and some red pepper flakes, but it was good nonetheless. I really liked how big and chunky the roasted veggies were.
The Da Vinci side was sooooo good. Everything about this side was rich: bond of goat cheese, bacon crumbles, hunks of artichoke. We loved it!
I REALLY wanted to try the pan/stuffed style but my better half won that struggle. Perhaps next time.
Will be back to try the deep dish. Great job guys!
