Top tier sushi , with amazing head chef, I will go here for sushi every time I eat this cuisine in Oxnard!

They have a very good menu, atmosphere, host, and chef. The fish is fresh, expertly prepared, and served cold but not almost frozen like some places do where the flavor is ruined. The chef will tell you when an item is not to be eaten with soy sauce and never Wasabi as they add it to the sushi as required for each dish.

You are great! Sushi Hanada is the best Japanese restaurant in Ventura county. Sushi and rolls are over the top, but also other fish and beef plates are so good. Don’t miss the opportunity to give it a try!

I have been eyeing this place for a while and after my trip to Japan, I have been craving really good sushi so I figured I’d finally give this spot I try. The main sushi chef was not the friendliest my friend and I sat at the table, but then decided that the sushi bar would be a better choice so we asked the waitress, and she said yes, and as we started to move our things, the sushi chef shouted “no” said something in Japanese to the waitress and then she apologized to us and said we couldn’t go to the bar. which I will say, the bar was completely empty. But okay no big deal we stayed at our table. The waitress was very sweet about the whole thing. I felt bad for her more than anything. Most of the fish were pretty decent. I will say my favorite was the scallop.

Came here for the first time and decided to go with the omakase. Chef Hanada is clearly a master chef. He picks up fish twice a week (Tues and Fri) and only picks what’s perfectly in season which means you get the very best quality fresh fish, and a perfect amount of rice rather than a baseball-sized amount of it. It’s definitely a classical Japanese restaurant with a “purist” sushi bar experience and less-expensive/non-sushi combo plates that you can order at the table (or for take out). Don’t go expecting fancy multi-fish, saucy rolls, but go for a delicious, fresh experience.

If you like REAL AUTHENTIC sushi then this is a place for you. I read some of the lower star reviews and it sounds like a bunch of people who don’t know what “Tokyo style sushi” means, cane here expecting to be served Foo Foo Hippy Dippy rolls and appetizers. Anyway, I have been here twice. Once three years ago and once tonight. Tonight was exceptionally fantastic. The fish was buttery and fresh, the sushi chefs prepared the nigiri authentically like Tokyo fish market, the fish was the perfect temperature and the Uni is local and some of the best I have had (if you like Uni). I travel 8 months out of the year and eat sushi all over, Sushi Hanada is, by far, the best in the area. PS: I HIGHLY recommend the baby squid dish – see in pictures below.

Hands down some of the best sushi/sashimi ever! The restaurant is small but feels homey and we were greeted and seated right away. The sashimi is probably the best i’ve ever had, it’s super soft and melts in your mouth. The fried chicken had a light vinegar taste that paired well with their homemade sauce and the uni was fresh and delicious. Their miso soup has more nori than most places, but it makes the soup taste even better. The salad has an amazing, creamy sesame dressing, which I think tastes better than the usual ginger dressing many places use. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for some great authentic sushi/sashimi!

I would highly advise on calling in a reservation as it does get busy and I believe it gives you the best experience along with knowing what edo-mae style sushi is, you don’t need to but it gives you a better understanding on how much pride and care they put into each of their plates.

The staff are very welcoming and guide you on how how to eat different fish so you can enjoy the flavors they’re presenting. All in all it’s an amazing experience that everyone should try.

This is one of the finest Sushi restaurants I may have ever ate at. The quality of the Sushi is amazing. All Japanese employees. No English spoken between them. I asked the Sushi Chef if they buy in L. A. Or buy near by Channel Islands Harbor. Maybe off the boats. He said no. The boss goes to Japan twice a week to choose the fish himself. I did not sit at a table. So you can’t order the typical meals one would order from the menu. Sushi Bar is only for Sushi. It well worth the price to experience this kind of quality. It’s not cheap, but I would say reasonable for the quality. Many Sushi Houses are close in price or the same, but not as good. I highly recommend this place. It’s small. May have to wait. Also they will seat you by number of orders being turned into the Sushi Chef’s. They want no back up of orders to rush the Chef’s ability to serve quality Sushi.

Sushi Hanada is by far the best sushi experiance I’ve ever had! Everything from the Toro tartare to the miso soup is bursting with flavor! All of the sushi is authentic and insanely fresh. The atmosphere is perfect too the white table cloths and jazz in the background really make this place really stand out. 10 out of 10 will be back for more!!

First time here, and we were impressed. Fish was fresh and tasty, and I felt the service was really good with a positive vibe. There was only a short 5 min wait to be seated. We tried the marinated tuna for the first time which looked a little different but it was awesome! We ended up ordering more and will be coming back.
