Golden Bay Banquet (may also referred to as Grand Golden Bay – not to be confused with the Grand Golden Bay Bistro in Union City) is a Chinese restaurant that opened in late January 2023. This was formerly the location of King Kong Dim Sum. We are a family friendly restaurant that does dim sum (morning/lunch hours only) and a variety of other familiar Chinese dishes

Reviews
We went early so there wasn’t a crowd, but as the hour went on the crowd started to form. Overall for dim sum it wasn’t overly packed.
The service was good. The waitress was friendly and professional.
The food was good as well. The dim sum came out fast and hot.
Overall a good place for dim sum that is affordable in the area. Next is to try this place for dinner.
For the price and flavor of the food, I’d definitely recommend stopping by. However, if you are looking for new and modern dim sum dishes I wouldn’t say that golden bay would provide that experience. They have more of the old and traditional dishes.
Some of my favorite items and highly recommend yall to order would be:
– deep fried taro root (not vegetarian – has pork intermixed)
– pan fried leek gor
– baked durian puff (i really appreciate this spot’s version bc usually it has a small lingering taste of bitterness at other spots but this spot is fireee)
tips:
– VERY limited parking so be prepared for street parking on the busy E14th street or on the side parking inside the neighborhood areas
– relatively quick service id say but at the same time your ordering would be through a wipable menu with an expo marker
The good is that there is never a wait on a weekend (hmm.. wonder why) and plenty of street. Sometimes less people makes for a nicer eating environment.
The bad is that they automatically write in your tip for you. Other restaurants that do this have signage somewhere, on the menu or table, but zilch here. I was surprised and asked and their reply was that they do so “on Sundays”?? It doesn’t seem to be a consistent thing and also there it doesn’t seem to be a set amount that you choose on the machine and appears to be at the whim of whoever took the card. When I did the math, it came out to be 16.27 %. It’s standard and not a crazy amount but I’d prefer to have it be transparent and standardized.
But that’s perfect for us, came in for a late lunch on a Saturday and there were only a couple other tables. So we got seated and served right away! Can’t find that at most good dim sum joints.
Got the e-noodles with seafood in XO sauce as the main dish, and some dim sum dishes like the shrimp dumplings, durian puff, bean curd wrap etc. All came out quickly and were very good!
Parking is tricky as there’s only the front lot on this stretch of the street. So at peak hours you might have to park a couple blocks away or in the nearby neighborhood. Still a good option and we’ll come back soon!
