Amazing find. My celiac son was looking for a restaurant that was different from the usual GF choices in the area. We stopped and came in. Our waitress immediately talked about the safety and the cautions they take to prevent cross contamination. Then the owner came out and identified the table to make sure the kitchen prepared his order safely. The food came out quickly and truly was phenomenal. I had a fish sandwich that was huge. My celiac son had ribs and plenty of choices for sides. In laws had a brisket wrap and pulled chicken sandwich. Service was beyond anywhere we’ve been recently, the staff stops by tables not assigned them and the result is a restaurant that is busy but you wouldn’t know it. Everyone gets service. If there is one downfall it is that they are an established catering business and are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Great restaurant all the way around!!

This is my favorite BBQ spot in State College! The brisket sandwich is incredibly tender and juicy, and you can tell they take their time with the smoking process. The mac-n-cheese and baked beans are both standout sides. Don’t skip the deep-fried cornbread dessert—it’s unique and absolutely delicious.

Friendly service and a great, casual, family atmosphere.

Stopped in after my wife’s doctor appointment Thursday. My wife , mother and myself had an amazing dinner . Met the owners and they are so kind . We will definitely be coming back often. Bonfire Old-Fashioned BBQ absolutely delivers. The service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish, the kind of place where you actually feel glad you stopped in.

The barbecue was outstanding. Easily some of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and clearly made with care. You can tell this isn’t rushed or mass-produced BBQ. It’s the real deal.

Between the quality of the food and the great service, this place stands out. If you’re looking for excellent barbecue and a spot that knows how to treat customers right, Bonfire is a must-visit.

This was an amazing meal. The cornbread is the best I’ve ever eaten. The brisket was absolutely perfect; tender, flavorful and a generous portion. The BBQ sauce is so good as well. Lastly, the deep fried cornbread with homemade maple bourbon pudding is to die for. The owners came out to speak with us and treated us with the cornbread. We cannot wait to come back.

Service and atmosphere is great. Food was great except for their brisket. That thing needs to be taken off the menu. It was like fried or something. Completely awful. Pulled pork was good as well as sides. But their hour such. They are basically bankers hours for a restaurant. Not sure how they remain profitable.

Recently planning Cuban sandwiches, I walked over to Bonfire (only 10 minutes away) to purchase a pound of pulled pork. The meat was excellent and the service outstanding. When they found out I was walking back home they carefully insulated and bagged my food. It got home still very warm despite the cold January weather!

An online search helped us discover this restaurant as a pre-match stop for a PSU Wrestling match. We were very impressed with the service and the food was excellent. Although they were extremely busy for a Friday night (wrestling match plus ice hockey game), they worked diligently to get a table ready for us and during our meal we had multiple service team members check on us and provide what we needed upon request. We’ll be back.
