First time here, we went on a Monday around 1030, didn’t need a reservation. the portions are huge! I ordered the salmon Benedict, the seasonal peach blitz, hot chocolate, and my friend ordered the avocado toast. The salmon Benedict wasn’t bad, a little salty but overall decent. the peach blintz…umm was pretty thick. It seemed like a pancake folded over. it was dry and you’d have to pile the whipped cream high and deep. the berry bar sounded amazing. It was a mix between fresh and canned fruit, assorted nuts, and whipped cream. it was ok. id probably go here again bc the menu looked like it had some amazing options. id be interested in trying more food from here.

Portage Bat never disappoints. This was my first time coming to the West Seattle location. We came close to closing time but we’re still seated!
This time around I ordered the French toast and my partner got the verde burrito. Both were absolutely delicious and full of flavor – I always appreciate the toppings bar and being able to choose exactly what I want. The sliced almonds are my go to!
We also got a mimosa which was nice and an Arnold Palmer which I would absolutely NOT recommend.

Very good brunch. Crepes are delicious, potatoes are very crunchy and good. We did not wait more than 5 minutes to be seated in a somewhat packed restaurant. Food was ready quite fast. Paid parking around, as well as street parking and free parking lot across the street.

Portage Bay came up on a Google search for brunch places around the Fauntleroy Ferry. From the reviews I have read, it is necessary to make a reservation. But on a weekday, there were plenty of tables. My partner ordered Bananas Foster French Toast, which came with a visit to the berry bar. Although powdered sugar was skipped by request, the french toasts were drenched with kraken rum and caramel sauce. It looked so unhealthy I did not ask for a taste. I came for the crab cakes, but I quickly got distracted by the marketing descriptions of “local broccoli, carrots” and ordered the 3 eggs omelette with sautéed heavy greens. I had said many times in the past that I hate omelettes because I found the extremely boring. That day, I surprised even myself. As it turned out, I am still right. The contents inside the omelettes amounted to two table spoons of chopped up pieces of carrots, broccoli and bacon. The heavy greens was so heavy with vinegar that caught my throat at every bite. The house-made wheat and honey toast was dry and cold, and using the entire package of butter on it did not help moisten it because the butter did not melt. I should have stuck with crab cakes. For pancakes, the berry bar is a good idea. I must mark this place on my Google list as sugar heavy.

This is such a cool breakfast spot right across the street from Safeway. Parking available street and parking lot. The service was wonderful! The lemon raspberry pancakes were out of this world. My guy had the biscuits and gravy and his only issue is that carrots don’t go in sausage gravy. It wasn’t listed on the menu with carrots and threw us for a loop! Haha very strange. But everything else was so perfect.

Our food was 5/5! Our service was fine, until the end. While we were cashing out, our server with tattoos on her face made a ridiculous comment to one of the guests at our table saying “you look like you would steal” while cashing out on the toast. I don’t care what kind of day you’re having, don’t accuse a paying customer of looking some type of way. Crazy. I would absolutely walk away if she was our server again and not waste our money here.

Terrible service and mediocre food. We got served our food 35 minutes after being seated and 15 minutes after being served our food, we were told we had been there too long and needed to leave because they needed our table. They took everything before we had even finished. I’ve never been treated so rudely or had such a thing happen. Not only was it their own fault we had been there for so long with the wait of the service to get our food (and only being given 15 minutes to eat it), no where did I see it stated that there was a time limit on the tables. It wasn’t busy, there was no one in the lobby or outside waiting, and there were customers seated who had been there longer than we had. If I could give no stars I would. I probably wouldn’t have returned simply for the food quality, but the service got the review. There are better places with much happier and friendlier employees in West Seattle.

I used to love Portage Bay, but it’s really gone downhill. Past 2 of my 3 times here at least part of my food was cold ($30 a plate for a Benedict, it should be tops), and last time we were asked to vacate our table less than an hour after our reservation started, with drinks still to finish. Time to move on!

Went looking for a GF breakfast place to take my celiac wife to, and this place popped up. Took a look at the menu, decided it looked tasty, and—turns out it is! Absolutely delicious, and they remade her food when they accidentally put a glutenfull toast on her plate rather than gf.
The atmosphere is very chill, a couple steps up from your average diner or cafe. Expect to spend a bit of dough, and for it to be worth every penny. Generous portions, lots of options, and it’s vegan-friendly too—I’m planning to take my mother next time!
Indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor section has little blankets for every seat in case it’s a bit chilly. If the pollen count had been lower, I definitely would have wanted to sit there!
Really, the food was so gorgeous and delicious I literally forgot to take pictures like I usually do! I cannot rave enough about this place!

I remember being excited about getting Portage Bay in West Seattle after years of eating at SLU location.
West Seattle location started well but my last 3 to 4 visits in a row have been good. Today’s dish served cold was the end of the line for me. Mediocre food quality, how consistently here and today was just plain bad unfortunately.
Service is always friendly, today I think they might have been short staffed.
