This is a hidden gem. I searched for a coffee shop and there was this intriguing place. I decided to give it a try, resulting in one of the best cappucinos I’ve had in the Kansas City-Lee’s Summit area. Solid, good flavor, no acid or bitter taste. It was so good, I came back 2 days later. Jennifer is a very gracious host, and pastries are excellent too! Highly recommended.

My hubby and I stopped in for coffee before heading to a birthday party at a park nearby. We had never been and they’ve just celebrated their 2nd anniversary!
The atmosphere: colorful, fun, and inviting! There was a small Bible study going on while we were there and maybe a few other patrons around the 8:00am timeframe on a Saturday morning. She even has fresh flowers on the tables and bouquets for purchase!
The service: Jennifer (the owner) was making the coffee and food solo while we were there and she was very upbeat and kind.
The coffee: DELICIOUS- Jennifer suggested the coconut caramel iced coffee and boy did it not disappoint!! Seriously, try it. You’ll be addicted at the first sip.
The food: We ordered the Wake & Bacon burrito to go, and The True for our friend. Both were yummy We didn’t get a chance to try anything else but there were a variety of danishes, cinnamon rolls, etc.
I only wished we lived closer so we could come more often! Jennifer really cares about each person who walks through the door- it shows in her demeanor and in how she treats everyone. She knows her regulars! Definitely worth a try if you’re stopping through onto another destination or if you’re local.

They have the best coffee around!! I had a toasted marshmallow and caramel latte and I can not say enough about it! You can taste the coffee and the flavor and it all blended well together! They also had GF cinnamon rolls, muffins and scones!

Stopped here for coffee during a long drive and ordered two iced coffees. Unfortunately both were extremely sweet and undrinkable. I didn’t realize until I was already on the highway, so it wasn’t worth it to turn back and ask for them to be remade.
I understand mistakes happen, but it was disappointing to spend almost $15 on coffees and not be able to drink either one. Hopefully this was just an off day, but I’d recommend checking sweetness levels before leaving if you order flavored drinks.

Overboard Coffee is the perfect Lakewood vibe. The owner and staff are always friendly, welcoming and make you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The coffee is fresh and full of flavor, and the food options are just as delicious. It truly is the best stop for coffee any time of the day. I may be a little biased because I always believed Lakewood needed a great local coffee spot, and I am so glad Jen had the resources and the passion to make it happen. She created a warm, inviting space that fits our Lake community perfectly. So grateful to have Overboard Coff

Overboard Coffee has become such a meaningful part of my day. Every time I walk in, Jenn greets me with this warmth that instantly lifts my mood. She has a way of talking to you like you’ve been friends for years. She’s genuine, kind, and fully present. We laugh, joke, chat, and somewhere along the way it stopped feeling like a coffee run and started feeling like catching up with someone who actually matters to me. This place was integral for me while my family and I were mourning my fathers passing, it helped me in more ways than one.

This neighborhood coffee shop is such a gem. Jennifer always has a smile on her face, and I’ve known her forever — she truly makes everyone feel welcome. The coffee is great, and it’s the perfect local hangout where you always see familiar faces. My son is especially a fan of the chocolate muffins — they’re a must! Great little coffee shop. Stopped on our way out of town following a family visit. Place was super cute. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Had a latte and they even had some gluten free options. Cinnamon roll, scone and some muffins. Very impressed. Will definitely go back when we return next year.

I want to start off by saying that I understand people being overwhelmed. The whole mood in the place was awkward because the lady behind the counter was stressed out and she was making it known. The wait was a little long. I was next in line and the lady apologized to everyone behind me like I didn’t exist. I felt guilty for ordering because she kept complaining that she was having a bad day. Definitely won’t be coming back. Coffee was nothing special.
