At Bivio our passion is authentic Neapolitan pizza. Napoli… our love of the city, its cuisine, and in particular, its pizza is where our story began. We heard time and time again “It’s all about the dough.” True to Neapolitan tradition, and the passion of the pizzaioli, we construct our pizza using “00” flour from Naples, San Marzano DOP tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, fior di latte or bufala mozzarella, and sea salt. Our dough is gently mixed using a 20 year old “lieveto madre” (natural yeast culture) then with intense heat is baked in our wood burning il forno. At Bivio all of our dishes are made with the freshest and highest quality ingredients.

What an experience! The pizza was absolutely delectable! Tasted just like the pizzas in Napoli maybe even better! We tried a seasonal special that had a béchamel base, duck prosciutto, squash and sage. We’re still dreaming about it!! The ambiance was intimate, inviting and felt like home. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. The whole experience felt like a warm hug from Italy! We can’t wait to come back soon.

This place is super cute and serves delicious brick oven pizza. Staff is friendly and attentive, bring your own wine vibe, intimate and small, very busy, but for a good reason. We had the margarita and special which was a sweet fig type of pie. Both fire. Food took about 35 min to come out. But the delicious fried peace appetizer held us over which can rout very quickly. We topped off with a chocolate moose which was rich and thick. Prices are what you would expect for the area, and fancy pizza spot. Was about $90 for the meal. We would definitely come back. Not sure if reservations are required but highly encouraged. No shot you’re getting a table if you waltz in on a Friday or Saturday night.

Excellent wood fired pizza made with a lot of art and diligence. The pizza taste is very different from what you get in a normal pizza shop. The toppings are subtle and the pizza is light and you are never left feeling that you’ve overeaten. The air bubbles and the wooden char on the pizza give it a very authentic flavor.

The servers were very sweet and accommodating!

The dessert of the day was also excellent.

Long overdue for this review. This is the best gourmet pizza I have ever had and one of the best overall pizzas in North Jersey (the pizza capital of the world, might I add).

The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect for an upscale pizza restaurant – clean and cozy with tables and counter seating; tasteful decorations and the brick oven adds to the charm.

For an appetizer, I had the artichoke hearts and broccoli rabe – the absolute best I have had of either. Didn’t need a knife to cut any of it. The combinations of spices and a dab of olive oil made this dish an instant favorite.

The pizza is handmade and cooked slowly to perfection. Every few minutes it’s rotated and check on. I had no doubts the crust would not be brunt the way they care for m it. And the two owners make everything and are willing to engage in conversation while they are working. The flavors, the spices, the oil, the cheese, the sauce,… everything is absolutely fantastic and freshly made. It’s clear the owners are passionate about their creations and want others to enjoy it.

I came from close to an hour and a half to check this place out, a recommendation of a co-worker… all the way from Southern Ocean County. It was well worth the drive and I will be there more frequently. Hoping to eat everything off the menu by the end of the year. Thanks again!!

WOW, WOW, AND WOW! The vibe of this place is fantastic. 5 tables and a counter with a massive pizza oven. The food speaks for itself and what they do, they do EXCEPTIONALLY well. We shared the mushroom and margherita pizza and honestly, I might as well have been in Italy. The sourdough pizza crust is one in a million. Special thanks to David and James for making my son and I feel at home. We cannot wait to come back!

next visit update: as if this place could get any better… just went again tonight had an appetizer of Burrata with prosciutto and balsamic grapes, the mushroom pizza, the special carbonara pizza (Yeah, you read that right), and the dessert of almond cake topped with honeycomb. The end. Enough said. Go here! James and David are extraordinary!! Counter seating is the best kept secret (shhhhhh)…

Hands down NJ has so many amazing places to dine. But when you are looking for Napoletana pizza you don’t have to travel to Italy! Pizzaiolo James is a true craftsman he takes so much pride in making each pizza and trust me you will not be disappointed. Restaurateur Dave brings the best ingredients from Italy which deserves a special award. My go to place when I have family and friends visiting. Everyone walks away upset that they don’t have a spot like Bivio in their neighborhood. Continue success to everyone @ Bivio. Happy Holidays!!!!

There are no words for how much we love Bivio. The pizzas are as good if not better than any you will find in Italy: perfect chewy crusts, just the right amount of char, sensational toppings of the highest quality. And they are made with extreme love. The folks who own this place and their entire crew are delightful. The menu is short but it’s long on flavor. And yes to the previous reviewer who said that the two seats at the wall end of the bar are the best place to sit. I am not exaggerating this is the best place you can ever eat wood-oven pizza. I had to close my eyes while eating it so I can just taste the pizza without any distractions. All I can say about it is that is a master piece, they literally mastered their craft and they are still trying to achieve higher quality every time they make it. The crust was so thin and the edges so crispy. I went already twice and definitely going there at least once a month to try new recipes. They also make great healthy salads and delicious deserts. The place is only open Thursday Friday and Saturdays , they do not accept walk-in all reservation are made through Open Table and they have already solid 2 to 3 moths reservation. There is no delivery and no order pick up, reservations only. They insist on keeping it this way so they have time to focus on their clients and give them quality service and the best dinning experience. It’s definitely by far my favorite restaurant in Montclair. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
