On Saturday , during the Christmas holiday weekend, I visited New Hope, to soak in the festive downtown atmosphere twinkling lights, holiday shoppers, and that cozy small-town charm along the Delaware River. After strolling Main Street, I stopped at El Guajillo Mexican early dinner, craving something hearty and flavorful.
The place has a vibrant, welcoming vibe with colorful decor and a small outdoor patio (though it was too chilly to sit outside). Service was friendly and quick, even on a busy holiday Saturday.
I ordered the burrito bowl and enchiladas, and fresh guacamole to start. The guac was excellent creamy fresh made in mexican style, chunky, and bright with lime and cilantro, served with warm tortilla chips. The burrito bowl was generous: fluffy rice, beans etc, fresh pico, cheese, and sour cream—all well-seasoned without being overwhelming.
The enchiladas came smothered in a rich red sauce with melted cheese, alongside refried beans and rice that were spot-on.
Portions were huge, prices reasonable for the area, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. It’s a solid spot for Mexican food amid New Hope’s holiday buzz—I’d rate it 4 ish stars and recommend it for a satisfying break from the festivities if mexican food is craved.

Loved my pizza birria! We are birria snobs and get it wherever we can. Although true birria is made with goat this is next best as beef. Loved the portion sizw.

These are the people you NEED at your cookout. Truly excellent barbecued meat. The nachos were loaded with fresh toppings and the large barbecue skillet was piled with meat and veggies barbecued and roasted to perfection. Sides on point. Service flawless. The interior is unattractive, but did you really come here for that?

Prior to seeing a show at the Buck’s County Playhouse, we stopped into this restaurant for dinner.
It is a small restaurant with a tiny patio. We sat on the patio.
There was only one Guy working here, and so there was a bit of confusion over where to sit, how to order, etc. Eventually, we did sit on the patio, and the one person came and acknowledged us. He apologized for delays, and took our drink order.
We then ordered our meals and were given nacho chips and salsa. The red salsa is very hot – inferno -hot. It was a lot spicier than I imagined possible.
The meals – were very fresh, served hot, and very plentiful. The flavours were on point – exactly what I would expect from good quality Mexican food.
We had so much food, we could not finish it all, and since we were on our way to a show, we couldn’t take home leftovers.
This was a great place to go for a good meal. It was just unfortunate we didn’t have the time to properly savour the meal.
The Prices of our meal were so cheap and the most affordable meal we had on our entire trip.
The gentleman working was all alone, as the restaurant was short staffed that night, this caused delays and a lot of work for him, but he kept his cool. And was always pleasant and friendly.
I tipped him 50% because he deserved recognition, but also because I saw other people were cheaping out on tip due to the delays. He was doing his very best under tough circumstances and he was very nice the whole time.

Great authentic Mexican food in New Hope! The tables and chairs are beautiful and they said they were hand made in Mexico and imported. We started the meal with the Agua Chile (incredible and amazing, a must have), tamales (great authentic flavor), and beef empanada (good). We then went family style with tacos birria (another must get, so good! ), lengua tacos (tacos with tongue, sounds weird, but delicious! ) and the tortas (good). I’d highly recommend this restaurant!

This place okay, we got chicken tacos that came with just few chicken pieces, and the chicken had no flavor at all. I would highly recommend the owner to add more chicken to the tacos and some seasoning. I would have paid 6$ for tacos like that in New York. But 12$ for such small sized tacos is really not worth your money. Service and drinks(Non Alcoholic) were good. Overall, I recommend other restaurants.

This restaurant has incredible food. The best tacos I have ever had. The service was fast. And the restaurant itself is so cool. From the tables and chairs, to the hand painted murals on the walls. It’s the attention to details for me. I will be back.
