We have been to a lot of restaurants in general and have tried a lot of highly rated smoked meat places, this place is hands down one of the best meals we have ever had, better than any Michelin star restaurant.
Great selection of drinks with seasonal cocktails, the food was insane and the service was equally as excellent. The whole vibe in there was fun and enjoyable – we traveled an hour to try this, and we are already checking dates for when we can come back here!
Special mention to our waiter Harry who is very clearly passionate about the food and drink here!
The taster glass of brandy at the start is a very nice touch.
Front of house staff if the venue were also really friendly, bartenders drinks were spot on too. Went solo as my girlfriend was ill and you would feel welcome in groups of all sizes. Well done guys should be proud
The £75 meat platter only comes with three meats and a heap of bland veggies. The potato side tasted stale and tastless, and we noticed most tables left it untouched. Roasted cabbage was decent, but the rest of the veg was forgettable.
Brisket: 7/10 decent but came a bit cold
Sausage: 6/10 average
Pulled pork: 5/10 nothing special
Ribs: 8.5/10 (ironically the best thing we had, but not even included in the platter, and extra £35)
Platter + ribs set us back £120. For that price, I’d expect either more meat or sides done properly. Definitely not worth it.

Glad my Texas trip helped clear that up! You’re right though, after 10+ visits in 6 years I can safely say two cold slices of brisket, one lonely sausage, a scoop of average pulled pork, and some sad veggies doesn’t quite cut it for £129.
But hey, at least the ribs were decent… shame everything else was bland, cold or left uneaten (that potato salad mountain doesn’t lie).
If that’s the “hype train,” I think I’ll get off at the next stop.
Burgers on a friday night were to die for. Service was quality, shout out to Henry. He was very informative and made us feel at home. Will be back on a Saturday to treat my inner canvivore. The brandy is yummy as well.
Top Gaff!
1. The potatoes in the potato salad weren’t freshly cooked and were dry and refrigerated. Cold and obviously cooked at least a day prior. The sauce was nice though.
2. The guy with the hair bun who manages the seating was really rude when we left. I came back from the toilet with a quarter of my drink left and my coat on the chair, not quite ready to leave but he acted as if I were invisible and started reaching in front of me (I was sat at the bar) clearing up around me. I said I was still finishing my drink and he carried on and said something about the next sitting. Ironic since we booked a table but sat at the bar and were still within our 1.5 hour time slot.
This may sound petty, but if I’m spending £140 for 2 people I expect a little more.
