We had high hopes for this “Texas Steakhouse.” W/o a doubt, this was among the worst experiences as I have had the [dis]pleasure of experiencing cuisine from, around the world.

1. Spicy margherita ($21.00) on their Cocktail menu was ordered extra spicy. Came out super bitter. The master “mixologist” comes over and says he used less agave to make it spicier. ?!? B.S… Come to find out, they have a practice of under-sweetening drinks for fear they might have to redo them. He claims that he would rather add sweetener after the fact at the table than risk losing a drink (money).

2. ordered a glass of Albarino ($17.50) but delivered a Chardonnay. When the issue was addressed, they brought over the bottle of the Albarino to provide a taste of what is, obviously, a different wine. It does not even look the same, as it is much clearer. The guy doubles down- so ridiculous.

3. Sea Bass ($33.00) overcooked and over salted.

4. Ribeye ($75. roughly 14oz) was ordered Pittsburgh style. It was confirmed they could do it. Instead, I got meat that looked like a soggy piece of cardboard and had NO char. They took it back and returned the same piece now darker – still not Pittsburgh. The quality was unacceptable w nearly 1/2 ( ONE HALF) of the meat fat and gristle. (See pix)

The manager came out and agreed that it should have never left the kitchen.

5. “Flan de Coco” ($11) [coconut flan] which was more akin to a soggy custard ($11) and, of course, when this was pointed out, the waiter responds “That’s just how we make it here”. – priceless and accurate

Not another word from the house, and, yes, they charged full price – for everything!

As an expat living here, I have to wonder if sometimes we start to long so much for a bit of home, that we desperately fool ourselves into not recognizing a overhyped, overpriced, distasteful culinary experience – Doris Metropolitan.

A very upscale spot with prices to match. The steak was excellent, and the restaurant is spacious and bright. Perfect for a romantic evening or a date—just be ready to spend a bit

Not sure if it used to be good but I went to Doris recently due to the recommendations from old posts in different pages and it wasn’t good. The customer service was good, very nice crew, but the size was not the one advertised in the menu (weight), the quality was regular, the term was not the one requested, some were overcooked and others were under cooked. For that price, you can get way better options. Even buying a good aged steak at a supermarket and cooking it at home in the air fryer is a better option. Not recommended.

AMAZING! A do not miss experience in San Jose. I go to steakhouses around the world and this place is 10/10. I was impressed the moment I walked in the door and it never ended. The steak was like HEAVEN. So generous with a beautiful bread offering to start too that is included (and so good.)

Came here for brunch based on previous experiences and recommendations from friends and family, was slightly disappointed with it. There aren’t enough options for brunch, and even though the service was really good, we weren’t assisted enough to make a choice from the little options available. Steaks are amazing, lunch and dinner are top notch in here, the best in my opinion. Our choices for brunch were really tasty. But for brunch, this probably won’t be my next choice of place.

We had high hopes for this place. The homemade complementary bread was great. The scallops were not great. There were five very small, overcooked scallops with olive tamponade over asparagus and what tasted like a corn puree. The main course (steak, mashed potatoes with roasted garlic, and grilled asparagus) was good. It is a la carte so you are paying $40+ for an 7 oz steak alone plus sides. The chocolate souffle was good and worth the $10. The dirty martinis were just ok, not worth the price. The service, not so great. For the few tables occupied we expected more attentive service. We ended up paying $200 for 4 martinis and to share an app, entre, dessert. Overall, I would not go back for the price we paid and the service we received.

Great steakhouse! The Entraña was amazing. The food was really good. Great wine! The only thing that was not a 10 were the desserts if they improve those it will be a world class place.

Best meal I had while in Costa Rica. Delicious selections of meat, the service is impeccable and so is the cooking. The wine list is quite exquisite and I bet worth trying each wine on the list. Their home bread was incredibly tasty and lovely opener for next dishes. It was pricey, but worth it. Would warmly recommend it to anyone.

By far one of the best restaurants in Costa Rica.
The food is very good, I would say that their specialty is steaks. I highly recommend the picanha and entraña, they are amazing. I also think they made their own bread which is really good too.
We love to go there and order a bunch of plates to share.
I am not a big fan of their brunch, but It is definitely a great place for lunch and dinner.

We went to have dinner, the food was good! Prices are high but expect a great service quality and good variety of cuts. Overall a nice place to go on a special occasion.
