Grew up in Detroit. Had more then my fair share of Buddy’s and Shield’s pizza over the years. These guys have the crust down cold. They don’t use brick cheese, they have managed to get the crusty edge very close. Layers are in the correct order. The sauce is the traditional two stripes but it is not bake on the pizza it’s put on after it’s baked. Over all a very good, close second. Atmosphere was pleasant, wait staff very friendly and efficient and the beer was cold. Good enough for a Detroit boy to make a return trip and even bring friends.

Great Detroit style pizza. The wood fired pizza was not as good. Pizza and pepperoni rolls were not hot enough. Service was very personable and also overwhelmed. Great beer list and cocktail. Nice outdoor patio.

Second try here and our vote: don’t waste your time and money. We got there before 5 pm and they refused to sit us outdoors. The tables were empty but had 6 pm reservations. We promised to leave before 6 but they said we couldn’t be served pizza that quickly. We left at 5:50 pm despite the rocky and slow start. And all the outdoor tables were still empty but one.

They played good music and it’s really nice to sit outside, and the food was pretty good. The Detroit style was best, probably wouldn’t get the wood fired again. Very expensive for pizza. 3 beers, 2 14′ pizzas, and 1 shared salad cost $90 (before tip). Cute for downtown date night or a work event.

I like Ghostbox. I like Stem. Drinks are great (and you can buy big-batch drinks to-go.) The berry ghost is a smooth, spicy treat. I think the Detroit style is better than the wood-fired here. Lots of unique ingredients and za combos. The real downside is that the bartenders seem overwhelmed on visits and that they can’t get to everything. It’s always busy, so this is definitely an issue. Also wish the large salads were, well, large.

GBP serves up some the best pizza I have had! And this includes NY pizza in NYC. We are pretty snobbish regarding pizza (my wife is a New Yorker) and GBP is legit. The interior is warm and inviting and the service is great. Everything comes out hot and is very fresh.

Great atmosphere, food, and prices. I had the kölsch and as a light beer drinker, I loved it.

This was our second time. We tried the Detroit style pizza our first visit (not pictured) and it was great. I really didn’t have anything to compare it to at the time but the crust and the topping coverage were excellent.

Long story short – Ordered two pizzas didn’t get the second pizza until after our check came and everyone was done with dinner 1.5 hours after ordering.

Great food and even better service. We’ve had Sophie as our waitress the past few times we’ve been here and she’s been great. She is attentive and always on top of it. She makes dining out with three little kids a breeze.
