Otherwise the atmosphere was cozy, lots of seating, employees were nice, and there’s easy (paid) parking in the lot nearby!
The Teriyaki Tofu Grain Bowl (8/10) was pretty flavorful and such a hearty meal. I feel like the sauce might have been a little on the heavier side but is was still very good.
I also had a bite of the Autumn Falafel Grain Bowl (6.5/10) and it was also very good in a different way. It didn’t have the strong kick in the flavor and the tangy/sweet/savory kick as the Teriyaki Tofu Bowl but still very good in its own way. I don’t usually like falafels because they cant be hard and dry but they made it very soft.
The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the vibe in the restaurant is super chill and comfy. We love eating there, just don’t do it as often as takeout.
It’s January right now as I write this and they have their “30 plant bowl” special, which is just CRAZY good. I wish that thing were on the menu all the time! If you get a chance to try that, highly recommended.
The menu offers a variety of wholesome dishes, and while it’s not exclusively vegan, many items can easily be customized to fit a vegan diet by omitting certain ingredients. This flexibility makes it a great choice for those with dietary restrictions. Each dish is beautifully presented, reflecting the cafe’s commitment to both taste and aesthetics.
Whether you’re there to work, meet friends, or simply enjoy a nutritious meal, Life Alive Organic Cafe provides a delightful experience that caters to both your palate and your need for a dynamic kind of loud environment.
The inside of the Davis Square location is bright, colorful, and welcoming. Great for lunch, the food is always delish.
My favorite things to get are usually the Avocado Toast, Living Caesar Salad, and the Açaí bowls. All of them are super flavorful and hit the spot!
They have some really good smoothies too but sometimes they don’t blend them long enough so there tends to be clumps in them.
Usually service is good but they tend to get really busy around lunch. I’ve also had a couple times where my online orders for pickup have got lost which was frustrating.
Overall, I’m so glad Life Alive opened a location in Davis Square, it’s definitely one of my go-to spots!
Some of the cashiers they’ve hired over the years haven’t been the nicest people, but it hasn’t been a big issue until today. Today the guy took my order. A “tip” screen was showing on the pay screen, so I went ahead and paid by apple pay.
The guy immediately started to berate me as if *I* had done something wrong. It turns out that I was charged for someone else’s (much more expensive) order, and even though the cashier was the one who made the mistake, he scolded me like I was a naughty school child.
The people who were supposed to pay for *that* order weren’t standing anywhere near the cashier, and again he had already *taken* my order verbally when I went to pay. So I don’t know why he was treating me so badly when I just did what I do ever single day when I order at a place like this.
He left in a huff to get his manager, and after a long time came back to tell me that his manager would eventually deal with it. I told him I’d leave because I didn’t have time to wait. He just said “Fine whatever” in a huffy way.
I preferred wasting the money than having to talk to him again, and I didn’t know if the manager was going to yell at me too. Again for just trying to pay for my order.
This is the worst that anyone has ever made me feel for trying to spend money at their business. I’m really baffled by the rudeness. When I spend money at a business like this, it’s because the environment makes me feel happy, and I want to have a pleasant time. I don’t want to leave the establishment feeling worse than I had before I went in.
This place has permanently lost me as a customer.
