Shot Out to this hidden gem and shot out to the owner Avian!! Grandma (from Brooklyn) wanted some soul food so since I now reside in the area, I’ve been wanting to try this spot….
I placed a large order for pick up… *Crab Bites, Fried Oysters and 3 Large Salmon Dinners, with yams, greens, and Mac n cheese. The portions were huge! And let me tell you, believe the hype!! Gigi APPROVED! She wasnt even talking just enjoying her food!
Food was BOMB! Avian and his family most definitely know what they are doing here.
Now, Gigi gonna want a plate every time I go visit her. ❤️
Plus, I’m the type to travel for food and I agree this spot hits! From my familry to yours thank you again for the outstanding service and amazing food!!

Lovely dining room with laid back atmosphere and careful attention to detail. Service was beyond terrific, and the food was all I could have hoped for. Fish and chips were rich with flavor but not over fried; collared greens were just right. Hush puppies a must, and the lemon cake absolutely as advertised by our very kind waiter.

I came here on a date and had no expectations whatsoever. The interior is really nice and cozy. It almost feels like you’re in someone’s home. We were greeted by the waitress at the bar and got to sit wherever we liked. There were two other tables seated as well. We were given menus and water and quickly decided what we wanted to order, but we ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes after getting the menu to actually place our order. Our waitress seemed busy with the other tables. We ordered the Catfish Nuggets and the Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls to start. For entrees my date got Jerk Chicken Pasta with Grilled shrimp, and I got the Po’ Boy Sandwich with Jerk Chicken. After we ordered, it took over an hour for us to receive our appetizers. Our waitress wasn’t anywhere to be found, and in the moments we saw her briefly, she walked past us without saying a word. No update on our food or anything. We figured that maybe she was busy with the other two tables, but the table beside us had already gotten their entrees, and the other table only had four patrons, so we couldn’t understand why it took so long for just the appetizers.
Eventually we got our appetizers and the Jerk Chicken egg rolls looked a bit overcooked. The waitress apologized for the wait upon bringing our food, and even opted to give us an extra Jerk Chicken Egg Roll appetizer to make up for the time waiting. Unfortunately, while my date was a fan of the Egg Rolls, I wasn’t a fan at all. I thought the flavor was very light, and there wasn’t much spice at all. Figured it was just me. The Catfish Nuggets were superb however, and the sauce they brought with it paired very nicely.
The entrees came soon after we received our appetizers. This is where things get interesting. My date was a big fan of her pasta, but she loved the shrimp. I wasn’t a big fan of my Po Boy Sandwich. It was okay but left a lot to be desired. She tried the sandwich and agreed. I thought her pasta was pretty good honestly, and the shrimp was fantastic. The food ove was hit or miss flavor wise. The portions were pretty good considering the price and the area.
Overall, this restaurant is pretty hard to recommend. The service was mediocre at best, and the food was mostly lackluster. Pricing for everything seemed fair overall, but the hour long wait didn’t sit well with either of us. I honestly would’ve given this place two stars, but I gave the additional third star because the waitress did apologize for the wait (without a reason, but hey it’s something) and did give us a free appetizer. But even with that, of the four items we ordered, we both only really enjoyed two of them. Perhaps we’ll return to give them a second shot, but I can’t recommend this place until I do.

My husband and I really enjoyed “Off the Hook”Restaurant. What a nice friendly restaurant “wow”! . The food was delicious and fresh! We both had steamed Whiting with sides (see pics) which were so fresh and delicious. The salad portion was a nice size too.

Oh my goodness! Joe and I came here to this cozy spot for a comedy show tonight and had a such amazing time! Not only was the comedy hilarious but the food was delicious!
They offered a $40 pre-fix menu which included an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. I indulged and got the crab bites for my app, the fish and shrimp combo for my entree and the carrot cake for my dessert. I also added a side of hush puppies, because why wouldn’t I?!
The food was DELICIOUS and they gave us so much to eat I ended up leaving with my lunch for tomorrow. Our server Brandon was a one-man show I watched as he took care of every single guest on his own while also manning the bar, and he didn’t skip a beat once!
They have another comedy show March 13th and I can’t wait to come back with more people to share this little gem!

Placed an order on grub hub and was extremely disappointed the lack of condiments and utensils. $90 down the drain and not even ketchup, tartar, lemons or napkins. Called in and only got an apology. The lack of accomodations lead me to believe it isn’t any different if eating in. I hope they see this message and think about including these items. Do better.

I’m not sure what place the other reviewers ate at but my experience was way different! First of all, $34 for shrimp, fish and fries is ridiculous. This isn’t a 5 star restaurant. They don’t have their prices posted so I found out the price AFTER I ordered. Pretty much trapped me off because had I known the price, I would not have paid that for fish. The shrimp taste like it just came from the ocean. I took one bite and pushed it away. The fish wasn’t even cleaned. It still had scales on it. If the food was good, then I wouldn’t have had a problem paying that much but not for food I couldn’t even eat. I was staying at a hotel about 15 minutes away and was highly upset once I returned to my room to find this garbage I was given. They should be ashamed of themselves. The best thing were their fries. The 1 star is for the fries.

My food was SOOOOOO BLAND. Chicken had no seasoning. The catfish was not that crispy and also had no seasoning. My mac and cheese was butter and noodles. NO CHEESE. I couldn’t believe it. Yams were plain. They also forgot my fries with the chicken. I didn’t even care to go back and complain (look at the picture. no fries in the box & no cheese in my mac). My boyfriend also had to go back in and ask for utensils. Takeout orders should always include utensils. It was a waste of $40 because most of it went in the trash
