Our waitress was fantastic! We ordered the wafflich and shrimp scampi soul bowl both were great. Bowl was cheesy goodness and the waffle sandwich with fresh chicken, fried egg, bacon and delightful waffle was crazy good with the sweet Jesus sauce (very unique, you may want to order it on the side) plus they make and seve Kool Aid, too cool! All in all we loved it!

My boyfriend and I went out to Chippers for his birthday and it was sooo good! We will definitely be coming here again. The staff is so kind and patient. I got a mac n cheese bowl with grilled chicken and it was really yummy and still just as good leftover. My boyfriend got the catfish and I swear it’s the best fish I’ve ever had from anywhere. The interior is clean. Can’t wait to go here again.
Update: Ordered takeout from here a few nights ago and it was just as good as dining in! They packaged everything so well and included a few containers of sauces and also gave me extra tarter sauce when I asked for it. The second image is the catfish dinner that I ordered (they gave me three pieces, I had already eaten two of them so please don’t let the photo mislead you). One of my new favorite places for sure.

Wow…..what an excellent place. Real good, real soul food. Not eating here is simply foolish. I recommend this for any being with taste buds and a digestive system. As a large man, with a large appetite take out can be dicey. These good folk get it done. Vegan chicken is apparently a thing and they do it well. Fat guy approved.

Listen! There is a reason why you are here. Go! You will not be disappointed. The service was superb, the food was absolutely delish and the atmosphere was so welcoming. The facility was very clean. I can’t wait to eat here again when I visit. Do yourself a favor, save this listing as your favorite and visit often. You have to try the “Bishop’s Brew”- it’s kool-aid, y’all! Soooooo good and refreshing. You can taste the love. Very good portions.

September 2021: I was hungry and looking for something different (non-chain restaurant) to eat in Erie. I wanted Pineapple Eddie’s, but they were closed until 4pm on Saturdays. Chippers seemed like a viable option.
I ordered the bubble tea, the honey lemon pepper salmon, Mac n cheese, and collard greens.
I had never tasted fried salmon, but it was surprisingly good. They put batter on it and deep fry it, later drizzling it with a honey, lemon pepper sauce. Not bad. The meat was juicy and tender so no complaints.
Pros:
* The waitress was very polite and patient with me. I had a ton of questions and she answered them.
* The location is cool. Downtown Erie on State St. Parking was free on the weekend.
* Food was flavorful.
* Clean restaurant.
* The decor was cool. I liked the ode to famous black entertainers on the walls.
Cons:
* The greens had too many stems in it for me. They were good, but I was used to the greens that my older relatives used to cook with minimal stems and mostly leaves.
* I should’ve asked for more sauce to go onto the salmon. I think that I small container of sauce to dip into would’ve “set it off” even more.

Delicious food, amazing staff! Can’t wait to go back. Husband had the chicken and waffles with sweet Jesus sauce and I had the baked potato with steak, mushrooms, cheese, sour cream and Chipotle ranch

I went in in November with the Kiwanis club card and two younger girls were working who didn’t apparently know what they were doing. The cards should give you buy one get one free they only took off $15 instead of 30 and shorted my husband half of his meal when I called attention to it they were supposed to bring up the rest of his meal which they did not and they told me I’d have to call and speak to a manager to get the bill corrected. When I left there I immediately wrote them on their Facebook messenger. They said someone would call me no one did so several days later I called I spoke to a nice manager name Sarah who said she would credit my $15 and a half a pound of scampi and my hush puppies I was missing next visit… I just returned, asked to use it, and then they informed me that because I wasn’t there within 30 days I could not that to me is unacceptable and very bad business and it’s a shame because I like to support local, but I’m not interested in being ripped off

Awesome, down-home, Family Owned soul food restaurant. The catfish sandwich, deep fried kielbasa and chicken tender-cheesecake waffle were all delicious! Welcoming and ultra pleasant atmosphere!! It was a pleasure to meet Owner Mr. Jones and his son, Curtis, Jr. We will be back!

Nice place, delicious food and awesome service. The Shrimp Polish Boy sandwich with the Blu-Berry Hill BBQ sauce and cilantro coleslaw was fantastic. This was my first visit but I will definitely have this spot on my list of restaurants when I’m back in Erie.
