I had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life here. The food tasted terrible and honestly felt like it was made with no care at all. On top of that, the customer service was absolutely horrible.
We were sitting in the lobby waiting for our order for a long time while the staff completely ignored us. I asked the girl at the counter multiple times about our food, and instead of helping, she brought another person who behaved just like her and had him talk to us. When I asked to speak to the owner about the situation, he said he was the owner.
If that’s really the owner, then it explains why the service is so bad. No concern for customers, no apology, and no effort to fix the problem. Definitely one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
You asking for free food check your bank account it should be $61.26 more after i paid for our food and we never ask you for free food.

Came across this restaurant on an app called TooGoodToGo and we are just beyond impressed. The dishes were beyond good, with so much flavor and all fresh ingredients, not to mention huge portions. The owners were super friendly and kind, telling us they joined the app to help with affordable healthy food when so many people don’t have access to it. 10/10 recommend.

This is one of the best hidden treasures in Newport News for fantastic Yemeni food. (Middle Eastern) I ordered the Mandi combo which is a half chicken and lamb marinated so tastefully and cooked to perfection. It is so tender and delicious that it falls off the bone. It is served over herbed jasmine rice. It literally falls off the bone. Served with a green pepper salsa on the side. We had fresh Chai as a beverage. Absolutely delicious. This is a communal type of eating so the plates feed a few people. We finished off our meal with baklava. Yummy. We sat in a private enclosed booth with a couch. The music and atmosphere take your mind out of the hustle and bustle of NN. And they are very friendly and you feel invited in. We were definitely impressed and are going back soon.

My husband and I came here for the first time today, and we were extremely pleased. The food is excellent, freshly prepared, delicious, with a beautiful presentation. The service was also excellent! Our server, Shiba, took very good care of us and she was so sweet and attentive. We also really love the atmosphere, with quiet music in the background, enabling us to have conversations without having to talk loudly. This will be a new favorite restaurant for us, I only wish we’d known about it sooner, because we’ve been searching for a place like this! The prices were good and the food was plentiful! We even had quite a bit left to take home and share. I wish I’d taken photos to share! Thank you Shibam Yemeni Kitchen! ❤️
